“THE IVORY BIG DEAL BLAZER & IVORY SHIRT W/ SCARF”

………………….MAD FOR PLAID!…………….The BIG DEAL for Sept. 24th is a PLAID BLAZER, A366537. I consider myself a jacket person, blazers in particular. This reputation started with my days designing  the Anne Klein Collection…….It was two or three years ago when I made the proclamation that blazers would be coming back in a big way. Some questioned my forecast, and said blazers were old fashioned…..ye of little faith……..It is a designers job, actually our intuition that gives us the ability to forecast what’s to come……If you have been paying attention to your fashion magazines [August Harpers Bazaar, and the cover of Sept Vogue], you have noticed many many jackets and  blazers, especially plaid blazers, featured on their pages…..HABERDASHERY is where it’s at!!…The blazer I am offering to you has all of the hallmarks of a LINEA jacket. The fabric is a blend of Rayon and polyester, but you will swear when you touch it that it’s a fine wool………The TAILORING IS IMPECCABLE. Every detail is done to perfection. EVERY jacket starts with the shoulder line. This is a men’s wear inspired jacket so the shoulder had to be strong. This is achieved with a “square cut”, shoulder pads and a “cap filler” which gives the perfect look I wanted. To give the shape I wanted there are princess seams and body darts. There is also a center back seam for additional shape…..There are no vents. I personally do not like vents in my own jackets or jackets I design for you….They always spread open, and make you look like you have a big derriere….The jacket is very similar to the JAC BLAZER, so I would recommend ordering the same size.  The jackets will be NUMERICALLY sized……It can be described as a “Boyfriend’s Jacket”, but that is for STYLE….NOT SIZE. Sometimes a boyfriend’s jacket can mean over sized….this is not! The slightly slanted “real” pocket has a piped pocket opening with a flap. If you want a stream line look the flap can be tucked into the pocket opening. As you can see this is a single button jacket……..The sleeve is a classic two piece sleeve with three buttons…..There are no button holes in the sleeve. I know some of you love that detail, and I have them put into my bespoke suits, but it is a nightmare alteration for those who need to shorten the sleeve…..The plaid is a classic Glen plaid blown up……..The “IVORY” jacket above has a BLACK check and PINK vertical and RED horizontal stripes…We named each jacket by the background color….It is fully lined as any true blazer would be……The length of the size 4 blazer is approx 30 inches….I know some would prefer it shorter, but longer blazers are what’s happening. If it does need shortening it is an easy alteration, because there are no back vents to deal with………….It is washable, but I would never wash a blazer. How often would you really need to dry clean it? Once or twice a year depending on how often you wear it. There is nothing like the professional press you get from a dry cleaner…………There are always “up sells” to a Big Deal, and with this blazer I am offering what I believe to be the perfect blouse, A367141. It is approx 27 inches long for the size 4. It is light weight, and has a slight crepe finish. It is a blend of Poly and spandex…..The color is ivory. It has a FRAMED jewel neckline with a button front placket. The sleeves are long with a single button narrow cuff…….There are side slits too…..What you don’t see in this picture is the IVORY SCARF that COMES WITH the blouse. It is approx a 33 inch square. It looks wonderful tied around the neck with a double knot, and then the jacket worn over it……You will see it in the following sneak peaks. Of course wearing the scarf is optional, and it makes a great separate accessory to wear with other things…..The skirt is my vintage long WK…..Speaking of accessories, I always do something special to wear with my BIG DEAL pieces, and this time is no exception………There are actually THREE ITEMS I am offering to go with the BIG DEAL BLAZERS……..The first is the CHATELAINE BROOCH and EARRING SET………A chatelaine was originally worn in the Victorian era, and was a series of short chains attached to a woman’s belt from which she would hang keys, small scissors, and other items she would need. Some were very simple, and others were extremely elaborate. Over the years a Chatelaine has evolved to become a hanging decoration on belts as well as brooches with hanging chain……This is a piece of jewelry that you never see anymore and is very special and unique. It will definitely add a unique look to your blazer, and attract many compliments…..The Chatelaine I am offering you is a brooch with a center round domed stone, and six square cabochon stones of different colors surrounding the center stone. In between the square stones are small color marquise shaped cabochon stones, also in different colors…..From this brooch hangs three chains with stations of small round color beads. The chains all come together and are attached to a “stick pin”…..With the brooch there will also come a small pierced earring that is the same as the stick pin. They are sold as a set……The second item to coordinate is a FIVE ROW NECKLACE. Each chain hangs from a bar to keep them separated. The chains have the same multi color beads. All of the stones and beads are made from reconstituted stone…They are not resin or plastic…You see many turquoise pieces that are made out of reconstituted turquoise……. The pieces are detailed with silver metal………Of course the Brooch, Earring and Necklace can all be worn separately, but when worn together they make a major designer statement………You will definitely look unique and very special…..I will post the style numbers for the jewelry when they are avail to me……..The color for the jewelry above is called PINK/IVORY MULTI……………………………………………………enjoy……………………..much Love…………………………..Louis

Wow Louis! I’m glad you talked about getting the same size as the Jac Blazer, which is my favorite. I checked mine, and it is a size 14. I have been ordering 12’s in the woven blouses and my tuxedo jacket is a 12. I will order a 14. The Moss Plaid is calling my name.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Sylvia….before you order a 14 compare the measurement of the Tuxedo and this new plaid blazer. This blazer was modeled after the Jac blazer so I assume they should be the same measurements, but every new style is tweaked so I’d rather you compare the measurement before you decide…..the 12 might be better?????

Oh Louis! I love these tailored jackets. I so appreciate the tailoring with the square cut shoulder pads and filler. This was made for me (and a lot of other Linea ladies). For my body type a nice shoulder line makes all the difference and makes me look more elegant, confident, and comfortable with myself and in how I am dressed. Thank you for designing for us. It is a gift that you give to us and we do appreciate it and you.

Wow, wow, wow! Love it! Who needs RL with LDO in town? Knocked it out Louis. Can’t wait. Thanks so much. Pamela SS.

Thanks for answering about the trenches. Next question: are the faux suede pants coming before the faux suede trenches? Or are they the upset to the trenches. Clearly I’m obsessed with the trenches!

One more question: since you said there’s a pink cast to the ivory, will that work with alabaster? Do alabaster pants work with the ivory blazer?

I’d love to think I’d be best dressed in the state, but I live in Los Angeles county, so I’d be happy with the block! Competition here is stiff! (Including other Linea Ladies!)

Home from yoga so had to check your blog. Oh my! I feel faint. I LOVE, LOVE (not a typo) men’s inspired fashion. My sweet spot. I’m so lucky to have discovered you!

  6. Chris/Jazzmom

    Hi Louis,

Is the ivory blouse a white ivory or similar to the ivory of Jac’s blazer (with a yellow tinge)?

    Regards,
    Chris

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Chris, I compared the blouse and Jac’s blazer. As you say Jac’s blazer has a slight yellow tinge. I think it’s more of a Gardenia tinge. The blouse compared to the blazer has a slight pink tinge. It is definitely not pink, but compared to the blazer you can see it.

Louis, just when I think u can’t out do yourself….. there is nothing like this on QVC! And the pin is spectacular also. I love seeing all your new ideas!

  8. Carol

I almost forgot to mention my Sapphire lamb leather jacket has landed, and OMG! I was afraid it would be too bright, but nope. Just pure perfection. I have the caramel, magenta, wine and alabaster, so yay me! I also have the caramel and red long trenches, so I think I’m going to be the best dressed on the block. Thank you, Louis. You’ve made shopping so much fun over the last many years.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

CAROL….Definitely on the block without a doubt, but I’m betting Best Dressed in the State!

  9. Carol

Well I see my decision to get all things Caramel and all things Sapphire the past two seasons is going to payoff in spades! Hope they ordered a lot of the ivory, cuz that’s gonna fly. Who doesn’t want that one? And the caramel is a definite must have. I’m still contemplating the yellow, but since it’s still two weeks away, I’m sure I’ll talk myself into it, especially since the espresso faux suede pants are another must have. The sapphire and cranberry blouses, also must haves. And the new wk style is right up my alley. I have the jewel neck version and love that silhouette. As for the jewelry, well, have mercy on me, Louis. So many beautiful choices in that pipeline.

I know you’re not supposed to let the cat out of the bag, but can you let us know which of the faux suede trench big deals work with these blazers? I love loden, but it sure doesn’t love me. So I guess my question is will there be a trench that works with each of the blazers?

I know they like to call you Mr. Top Rated, but I’m calling you Mr. Budget Buster. And I mean that in the nicest way possible.

    Carol

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Yes Carol, here will be a trench that will work, not match, but definitely work with each of the blazers.

  10. LeefromMinnesota

I think I am hyperventilating! Fab-u-lous garments! I know I am (at a minimum) getting the ivory jacket and ivory house/scarf–but a question: will the red blouse set also coordinate with the ivory jacket? Thank you!

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Lee….the blouse color is CRANBERRY and definitely more wine in it than the stripe…..That said the stripe in the blazer is so narrow and quite a distance apart from each other that the cranberry blouse will work.

  11. Becky T from Tn

HaHa…….looks like we are having the same thoughts!
