“RECAP”

I thought it might be fun and helpful to recap the show, and if you had any questions this would be an easy way to refer to them.

Starting with sell:

#1 was the new WK V-Neck sweater. This is in the medium weight WK in the ENR [every needle rib]. It’s a tunic length with generous side slits…I showed Kate in the ivory blouse that comes with the scarf, but here worn without, for me the perfect layering blouse and a must have in ivory. Kate’s wearing the NAVY sweater and the navy ponte pant…..jeans would be great too. She is wearing the new Torsade called “Cosmopolitan” in the Artisan silver and Artisan gold [not avail yet]…..Next the CRANBERRY v-neck on Mary with the Yellow Plaid blazer and jeans. I was asked if the “Harp” necklace would work with the new Capri necklace, earring and bracelet and they absolutely do. The beads are the same in all pieces, so I decided to show it that way….a GOOD CALL OUT…..Next Maria in the SCARLET RED. S RED is the exact same color as all of my S. Red pieces….blazer, trench, WK skirt , Ponte pant etc etc. so you can have a mini wardrobe in SCARLET RED to match and mix with other things you own…S red is the perfect red, and can be worn all 4 seasons……next the YELLOW V-neck on Brenda. I love this soft buttery yellow. It isn’t harsh at all, and is a beautiful color for blonds, brunettes, redheads and my silver foxes! Brenda is wearing it with the AMBRA TREVI necklace and earring and the ROMA NECKLACE. She is also wearing the new Faux suede pant in ESPRESSO which was sell #2

#2 the faux suede boot cut pant in Espresso on Brenda and Loden on Chantal. I know there is concern due to the 32 inch length that it might not look right for my petite ladies when it’s shortened. I can assure you it will. There are Linea Ladies who have already shortened my boot cut pants and have reported that they look great…….Many of you know this faux suede because of last years slim pant and this years trench. Frankly, I have avoided faux suede because I never found one I liked! Like everything else technology improves, and the quality of faux suede has come a long way. I loved this fabric the second I touched it. The ESPRESSO is a wonderful BASE NEUTRAL color and will work with many many tops. Browns are coming into their own again. Loden is my favorite fashion color of the season. You know I love anything safari or military and this color is perfect. I showed it on Chantal with the Moss Plaid Blazer and a vintage Wine WK TN…..The Dk Olive WK TN works perfectly too…..but there are so many colors that look great with Loden from neutrals like ivory, alabaster, linen, navy, charcoal grey, black etc etc. Accent colors like S Red oranges, purples, magentas, and fuchsias, blues like sapphire, turquoise and baby blue. lime and aqua. There isn’t a color that wouldn’t look good with Loden. It will become your new neutral. I accessorized Chantal with the new pearl Torsade in the Loden, Cranberry, Port and gold……a pert compliment to the blazer. If you don’t have the TN the new CRANBERRY blouse with scarf is perfect too.

#3 The Lamb Leather Jacket…..This is the perfect jacket for all body types and heights. Loved showing the black on Mary with the Crushed velvet skirt and the white wing collar shirt. I think this is the perfect Holiday look, both for Thanksgiving and Christmas and Hanukkah……I put the new HAND MADE FLOWER BLOSSOM necklace on Mary as a sneak peek….it’s simply amazing. Due to the fact it is HANDMADE the quantities are limited…..It’s going to blow your mind. I have never seen anything like it…..The Caramel is just so warm and rich. If you like the classic luggage colors from Hermes and other high end leather houses like Todds…..you will love this color. The CHAIN GANG jewelry always looks perfect…. The Dove Grey on Angela with black and skinny jeans tucked into boots is the way so many will wear it….ANY AGE….She has on the new GRAPE VINE necklace and earring in the GREY.

#4 The embroidered skirt….Ladies, Ladies, Ladies….when those of you who bought it get it home you are going to be thrilled beyond words. If you thought it looked fabulous on TV…WAIT….I was told all of the models were feverishly ordering it back stage. This is a magnificent piece and it is made superbly. Jennifer did explain the the scallop hem is HAND CUT. Each seam of each tire is PIPED to protect the tulle. In the old days tulle was made only in silk, and is still today, but it is very fragile and perishable. Only the couture uses it because the women who can afford $100, 000 for a couture hand made dress will only wear it a few times and then donate it. All tulle today is made out of nylon or polyester. One is not better than the other, but they do have different qualities that work better for son designs better than others……..I love these worn with dramatic black tops whether. they are black knit tops or elaborate ruffled chiffon tops, but they should NEVER outshine the skirt. There is SO MUCH thread work that it rivals any designer skirt on any runway. That is how the emb. costs are determined….but the amount of stitches. These skirts could easily be triple the price in ant boutique or store…..These are true ccollectors items. I can even see a wedding part in these skirts with simple black tops and the beautiful GLITTERATI GLASS FACETED BEADS, which is what I showed on Brenda in the LATTE and Chantal in the VIVID BLUE.

#5 The Cathedral print tops. I have been to many Cathedrals in Europe, and the first things that impressed me were the soaring arches and the stain glass windows. That is what these prints reminded me of. You all know the fabric, because I have done so many print tops in it including the ongoing OMBRE TUNIC. The shape is simple. It’s the colors and the print that take center stage. They are great layering pieces. The ALMOND on Kate was shown with the ALABASTER SUPER PONTE pant, but I could have easily given her the Espresso pants in the Ponte or Faux suede. Black works just as well. All of the colors…BLUE, FUCHSIA and SPICE, all had on the Cathedral necklace and earring sets.  A heads up…the Capri necklace earring and bracelet in the neutral also looks fabulous with the Almond. These are great tops for travel…..easy care and never wrinkle….they pack to nothing. They don’t cling like other knits do and they are flattering to all body types. The print also camouflages many body flaws which is always a good thing.

#6 The boot cut pant is in the lighter ponte. It is the same fabric as the ankle pant A265615. I did this pant because YOU asked for it. The slim pant has been very successful and I was asked to new a new style in the pant….so…..I took the Super Ponte boot cut pant, now going on its’ 4th or 5th reorder, and made it in this lighter weight which everyone loves. I think it is the perfect pant for everyone who experiences mild to no winters at all. This would be your YEAR ROUND dress pant. Even though the fit and shape is exactly like the SP BC pant the reception to this pant has been lukewarm at best, and frankly I don’t understand why? The fit is slenderizing, the fabric light, comfortable and easy care. The boot cut in the S Ponte has already sold out in many sizes in the Black and Loden, so if you want or need those colors to go with so many things you own this would be the perfect place to pick those colors up. The Loden matches everything Loden. The Dark Khaki is the perfect neutral, and looks good with everything. I showed the Loden pant with a black TN and the Loden Faux suede trench, just to show what a great match they are. Chantal is also wearing the OLIVE CARNIVAL necklace which for me is a must have if you own anything in the Olive, Loden or Dill family.. With the Dk Khaki pant I showed the vintage Port TN with a brand new necklace that I call “TWISTED SISTER’ but QVC is calling in interlocked or entwined necklace. I like my name much better! It is made with small faceted glass beads and small metal disc beads scattered throughout. The color above is the GARNET and AMBER with Russian GOLD discs. This will be coming for the Holidays

#7 The BLAZER……..This is the reorder Blazer in the Trench Coat fabric…..all Jac’s idea……The new colors however were all requested by you. Return of the BLACK which had sold out, and SCARLET RED [even though they said it sold out it is still avail in two sizes, at least it was]. I showed it on Mary with the MATCHING SCARLET RED NEW WK V-NECK SWEATER and last years S Red trench just to illustrate how all the items in different fabrics, and from different years all work together. I don’t know of anyone else on QVC who makes such a devoted effort to match items from season to season. Kate asked if the WK pencil skirt in Scarlet from years back would work, and it does. There is only one Scarlet Red standard…..The CARAMEL on Angela. I showed it all matching because I wanted those of you who own the pieces to know they will all work INCLUDING the CARAMEL TRENCH COAT. For those of you who own nothing else in Caramel…….Black, Navy, Dk. Forest Green, Charcoal Grey, Port, Wine etc etc. all make wonderful bottom colors to wear with the Caramel blazer….So many colors look incredible with Caramel….magenta, fuchsia, red, burnt orange and orange, sapphire, turquoise [very south western] etc etc all look incredible with Caramel……..Last but not least Dark Forest Green. This is that dark green you see in Black Watch Scottish plaids, or as I imagine it to be. Kate was wearing it with the Ivory button front jewel collar blouse without the scarf and all of the NEW BYZANTIUM JEWELRY. For her bottom I chose the slim Dk. Forest Green faux suede pant, still avail in broken sizes. The colors together in the two very different textures are perfection.

I hope you found this RECAP helpful…………..if you still have questions……….I’m here………………………….enjoy……………………..much Love…………………………….Louis

Louis, Will you be bringing any more tights to QVC? They are the best! Grace

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

YES Grace….Look for them mid month. I am doing a two pack of the tights in different colors with black, a three pack of trouser socks [they will be in all the new Super Ponte pant colors], a three pack of the “NO RUN” sheer tights [black, nude, smoke],and trouser socks, but I think the trouser socks are just nude and black sheer. A black FLEECE LINED tight [great for Colorado] and a two pack of black FANCY TIGHTS [a lace pattern and a Point d’Esprit pattern]. That is the program for 2019……If anyone has any special desires they should let me know!

  2. Carolyn Muse

Dear Louis, Thank you so much for the recap. This is a wonderful tool. I appreciate it so much. Thank you! Thank you!

  3. Laurienda

Louis, Is your WK yellow a warm butter yellow or a cool icy yellow?
I did wear one of your beautiful new scarlet blazers in Houston yesterday and it was just what I needed for the cool air. Many compliments from people throughout the day.
Thank you for posting your fascinating recap! When I was young I would love to watch the department store’s artists in the fashion offices at Pittsburgh’s Kaufmanns as they sketched the fashion show plans and the ads for the city papers–each day! But, I have never seen a designer’s work like you’ve shared with us. Such fun for us to see!

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Laurienda…..the yellow is a soft warm yellow, not an acidic yellow…..I’m so glad you like my sketches. I do these quickly for the stylists to know how I want the models dressed. They aren’t my normal design sketches, but they serve the point.. One of your Huston Ladies just asked me if the blazer was appropriate for the Huston climate. I’ll tell her to read your comment……thank you

  4. Patty from Houston

Thanks, Louis! Where is the Linea Forum? Do you have a link?
    Thank you!

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Patty…..your trip sounds wonderful! I don’t have the link but I can give you a step by step on how to get there:
1-Go to QVC and scroll down to the bottom and click on “Blogs and Forums”
      2-Click on “My Favorite Brand”
3-Click on “Linea by Louis Dell’Olio”
4-Click on “New Message” and post your question

  5. Patty from Houston

PS. We just got home from a month long trip around France. I loved looking in the shop windows in places like Bordeaux, Paris, Avignon, etc. Most of the clothes were classy – no more of the ripped jeans except for one shop that catered to teens. Yeah!

  6. Patty from Houston

    Hi Louis,
I ordered the embroidered skirt in blue & my husband saw it and wanted me to also order the Latte. (It is on waitlist.) They are both so beautiful and elegant!
I also ordered the black blazer and am thinking about the caramel. Both are so elegant. Just wondering if they will be too warm for Houston.
Jennifer is doing a great job of showing your things and explaining your plans for each. Well done, Jennifer!
Louis, thank you for posting videos and pictures of the clothes and jewelry that you designed. It is so nice to see that you are still behind all of these beautiful and classy clothes and jewelry items. You are missed.
Happy thanksgiving & God bless! 🙂

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Patty…..As long as there is a Linea, I will be designing it all! Nothing is changed except Jen is now the Linea spokeswoman. She is saving me a lot of travel, and taking trips I don’t want to take anymore after 20 years. As for your question about the blazers….not really knowing Houston winters, I would suggest you ask the Ladies on the Linea Forum. I know there are many Linea Ladies from Texas who could answer this better than me. I know many Southern Cal. and Floridians own the blazers if that’s any help?

    2. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Patty….Laurienda, also a Lady from Huston, just posted above. She said she wore her blazer yesterday in Houston, so I guess she felt it was fine for the weather. Hope this helps.

  7. Rochelle

I ordered the Cranberry and Navy vneck sweaters. Since you’ve mentioned the Loden pant, what other colors would pair well with them? Thank you.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Rochelle, if you are asking what colors work with Loden…..every color works with loden. ivory, linen, alabaster, pink, lavender, iris, all purples, sapphire, pale blues and aquas, turquoise and lime, fuchsia and magentas, reds from scarlet to red orange to orange and burnt orange….to peach and apricot…yellows and gold rusts and sienna..etc. etc…..The only colors that won’t work are blue greens like kelly green, forest green etc. but every other color looks great with loden.

  8. Sheesh

Good morning, Louis. Thank you for the detailed recap. These are the details which we have come to expect from a Linea show–what the models are wearing, how to put the looks together with what we already have and, of course, the jewelry—plus Sneak Peeks. No one does it like you! Looking forward to hear about what’s on the drawing board for next year. All the best, Sheila

  9. Suellen

Louis, these sketches and the detailed recap are so perfect — thank you for doing this! You present and explain your gorgeous designs in a way that no one else could possibly match, and it’s wonderful to hear your “voice” as we read your comments. You’re a treasure in so many ways!

  10. Grace

    Dear Louis,
Thank you for the recap–it was so helpful, especially as I re-watched the DVR of the show. I missed some of the new jewelry totally on my first viewing! Also, I expedited shipping of the embroidered skirt in blue and it is STUNNING, SPECTACULAR, EXQUISITE. I can’t take my eyes off it! I have it hanging on the door of my armoire, so I can look at it like a work of art. I will be wearing it, though 😉 I also received my red blazer and three FS trenches. I’m awash in luxury! Thank you, once again, for all you create for us.

  11. vickybliss

What is the harlequin necklace with red blazer (#7)? Thank you

  12. Elaine

    Hi Louis,
We took a cruise to the South of France, that started in Rome and endied in Barcelona. Spent time in Monaco, Nice and Aix en Provence, heavenly.
I was so crazed about packing and flying, when we were checking in curbside at JFK, the bell cap asked my destination and out of my mouth came London! WHAT! My husband gave me a look that said “she’s just flipped her wig”!
Luckily, we and our luggage landed in Rome. It took a day or two but I was finally able to laugh at myself.

Came home to my beautiful black FS trench and red blazer, looking forward to doing some holiday jewelry shopping!
Thank you for asking about my trip, it was only two weeks but packing for anything more than a w/e is a long trip for me!
    Elaine

P.S. We were only gone for 2 weeks but packing for more than a weekend is a long trip for me!

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Sounds fabulous. Jac and my dearest friends lived in Aix for quite awhile. Unfortunately we never made it there to visit them, we always planned to go…..but we did visit them many many times in Positano.

  13. Deborah

Hi. It was me that just posted about the ENR sweaters. Deborah (aka Diamondscribe)

  14. Anonymous

Louis, I missed the show but played back all the product videos from the episode. I ordered the WK tunic in all colors. Am anxiously awaiting them. It certainly is cool enough in Florida today to wear them! I’m wearing my swing ENR today.Love these tunics for easy, fast dressing on chilly mornings.

  15. Melissa W

This is wonderful!! I watched the show on my phone while I was at work so I missed some details. I plan to re-watch the recording on tv this weekend and this re-cap will be very helpful. Thank you!!

  16. April

No one can explain the details like you. It was a fast and furious show, chock full of wonderful things for the entire rest of the season, so without your expertise, much got missed, naturally. Jennifer does a great job, but I wonder if the next time there’s a big show like this one whether you could put together a pre-cap like this recap for us? I, myself, somehow missed that the newer bootcut ponte pants are in the same fabric as the fabulous ankle pants, of which I have 5 pair. Already owning the SPs in the taupe, and purchasing the new FS pants in the loden as well as espresso, I didn’t think I would need these, but now I know different because of this recap of yours, so there’s one for the team. The jewelry also got short shrift because there was so much to cover and only one hour in which to do it all (your “Twisted Sister” name for that gorgeous necklace is very funny; trust QVC NOT to get the joke). And, of course, that amazing skirt that was the star of the show and should have had the Glitterati jewelry played up, but that didn’t get even a mention, presumably because of time. That necklace with that skirt is EVERYTHING. Anyway, kudos to you, woe to my purse, but damn; I will look GOOD this holiday season.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear April…..I think doing a pre-cap of the show is a terrific idea, but I get the scrip so late that there may not be time. If there is I certainly will try to do it. Watching the show myself I too realized some of the descriptions were left out, but the time isn’t your own with the host speaking, and the directors telling you what to do in your ear. Time can easily get away from you. I will do more recaps, and hopefully pre-caps if possible.

  17. Diane

Perfect. This is extremely helpful ! Always findings ways to stay in touch and give us your commentary … Thank you for your fabulous clothes ! closet is FULL of Linea.

  18. Elaine

    Good morning Louis,
Returned yesterday from vacation with the intention of writing you a “thank you” note, now I have 2 reason to do so this morning.
I absolutely loathe packing for long trips so I wrote a “story board” for myself with tops, bottoms and jewelry all written out for each evening. I even labeled the jewelry bags for mix & match, It made my trip less stressful and nothing was wrinkled! The Boho’s, moss crepe, peeble crepe, WK’s, etc.,…just Perfection!

I was disappointed to miss Jennifer but coming home to your “story board” is a happy surprise which I will go thru when watching the show.
    Perfect timing for me.
    Once again, Thank YOU Louis!
P.S my neighbor picked up my black faux suede trench & red blazer while I was away. She’d better give them back!! Can’t wait to see them.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Elaine, where did you go on this long trip…..make me jealous!

  19. Joanne C

    Louis
I just read through again your “recap”. It was so interesting. I saw the show, but did not remember all of the details. Thank you.

  20. Barbara

Loved your recap. Fell in love with “Twisted Sister”. Such a fabulous name!! Will it be coming in other colors
Besides the one BrendaF3 was wearing?

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Yes Barbara…..actually Chantal was wearing it in the very last blazer sell under the black belted blazer. It is silver and black jet. There will also be a silver and gunmetal for a more tonal look.

  21. Shay

    Happy Halloween to me!
What a fabulous way to end the holiday by sitting down and reading an insightful recap of the show featuring your beautiful clothes. Thanks, Louis!

  22. Carol

What a show! The hour just flew by. Fortunately I ordered before the show so I could concentrate on all the many styling details. Needless to say, my jewelry wish list is growing! I’ve been in Chicago and St. Louis for the last week, but managed to catch the live show. I debated on whether to order the regular or petite length in the tulle skirt. I,m 5’7″‘ so the regular length isn’t too long for me, but I thought the petite would kind of give a Dior New Look vibe when belted with a 3/4 sleeve top that I have. I ended up going with the regular length, but I would love to see how the petite looks on a taller woman. I got sapphire, and will wear it with some strappy midnight blue velvet sandals I have. I cannot wait to see it in person. As this is the only wk sweater this year, I could not resist ordering every single color. That sweater is so me. I also ordered the espresso suede pants to wear with the spice Cathedral top– and my fabulous new espresso suede trench. I have worn that trench every day since I arrived in the Midwest where the temperatures have been 50 to 60 degrees lower than when I left CA. I can always count on Linea to have the perfect solution to my wardrobe needs wherever I travel. Thank you for always knowing what I need.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Carol….I would have loved to show a petite skirt on one of the tall models so you all can see that either length can work, but QVC never has the samples avail!!!! You are so right when you say it would have the “Dior New Look”…..I’d love it with my new Point d’Esprit tights when QVC finally posts them. They are really, really really slow. We are pulling our hair out trying to get them to post all of the tights!…..Now the espresso F Suede Pant is not an exact match to the trench the way the Loden is to the trench. The pant manu. is located in another area of China. Each factory is responsible for ordering and dying the fabric. Even though they are all given the same standard, and I approve the closest match, sometimes production isn’t exactly the same. The pant is lighter but still looks good with the trench. This is a good separate pant that you will wear with many other things!

  23. Carol B

This recap is fabulous and so helpful with accessories. I couldn’t resist even though my closet is full and I bought the red blazer, both skirts, the blue cathedral top and three whisper knit sweaters. I’ll be eagerly awaiting the UPS truck. Love your clothes. They make me feel confident and my friends are always asking where I shop. You should be proud of this outstanding collection.

  24. Linda in AZ

Hello Louis…thank you so much for the additional information and styling tips. I bought the caramel blazer, and it is so helpful having the list of colors that will coordinate with it. I especially want to try the turquoise, perfect for the Southwest, as you said. Thank you for the recap. Extra work for you, but appreciated so much.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Linda….even wearing the Caramel blazer with a black top and Turquoise jewelry will look incredible. The jewelry will really pop.I’m doing some fabulous turquoise for next spring/summer.

  25. Michelle

    Louis

Thank you, thank you, thank you! This is such a wonderful “roadmap” to have as I re-watch the show. Like the other Linea ladies, I so appreciate all that you do for us. I can’t wait for all of my boxes to arrive to start playing in my closet!

    Happy Halloween.

    Michelle

  26. Tylerpoo

Louis, what a wonderful way to show all of the items on the show, please continue to do this for each show. This is a road map for what to wear with what! Love it and Love you!!

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Tylerpoo….There are many ways I could have put each piece into different outfits, but eventually I have to choose how to show it. As you say it’s just a road map, but not the only way to put the pieces together.

  27. Cela

    “Louis’ STORYBOARD.”
    You are just the sweetest.
Yesterday, I wore my Caramel jacket, my tobacco waist whittling wk tank, and my darkest indigo ankle jeans and a
black jet/gold choker. And my gold flat Mz. Mooze sandals, it was about 80* maybe 78*. 😄 I threw my blazer
Around my shoulders, it’s always breezy here. 😌

  28. Joanne C

    Hi Louis
I loved the last presentation of the blazer. I did not think about belting the blazer. Great idea! I own the blazer in black with the matching pants. Today I wore blazer with matching pants to work and belted the blazer with a beautiful semi wide black leather belt. What a wonderful look! Thank you.

  29. Somersault

I am in awe!!!! I am mad for your sketches! How fabulous of you to detail all the presentations for the Oct. 30 show!! You are truly unique as a designer but it is a testament to the pride you take in your work. You are invaluable!! How fortunate we are to have you in our lives. The embroidered skirt is breathtaking. An heirloom! The Latte is coming my way! It has Anna Wintour written all over it! Magnificent!

  30. vickybliss

This is just wonderful! I just finish viewing the show on Facebook and was wondering whether it was the scarlet sweater under the blazer and trench coat. I think I’ll print this out and watch the show again. Thank you so much.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Yes Vicky it was all in the scarlet red. As I always say it’s a miracle when garments from all over China come in matching considering one factory has no idea what the other factory is doing. I know a lot of people complain about manu. in China, and with good reason, but the people who are just workers and technicians know what they are doing after centuries of dying and sewing. After ALL silk yarn comes from China. I don’t know what the weather is like by you, but here it’s rainy, windy and in general miserable…..a good day to watch a video!

  31. Cathy in PA

My 2 embroidered skirts arrived today, express shipping. Let me just say … they are GORGEOUS. Rich, detailed, substantial yet delicate in look, dramatic, RICH COLORS. What the shimmery embroidery threads do to those colors iis just magic: The sappire ripples with bright shades of midnight and stars. The “latte” … no, lets’ say it becomes threads of antique champagne and spun gold. And that’s on a grey, dreary, foggy day here in PA. I can only imagine how they’ll look in candlelight … but I aim to find out, even if I have to coax Walter taking me somewhere special 😉 Meanwhile, a wedding in December.

    THANK YOU, Louis!!!
