WHISPER KNITS

Morning everyone….It’s a cloudy day here in CT, but it is going to be a busy day….more about that later….Whisper Knits….I know there has been a lot of conversation about the lack of new styles in WK, and it is all true. I don’t plan budgets, I have noting to do with QVC’s business. I am just a lowly designer……LOL, but they are well aware of all of your posts! I told you posts and reviews are important!!!! They are read. They know of the complaints……so………I am trying to  remedy that situation. There will be one new WK in January to go with the new BIG DEAL, and don’t ask me what it is I WON’T TELL!….We don’t usually do sweaters for Spring /Summer, but maybe if this Jan. sweater does well I can convince them to reconsider that too. We had an important conversation about WK items going forward, and I’ve made progress. Don’t quote me, because I’ll deny it!….but there may even be a WK BIG DEAL next Fall 2020…….So W Knits are definitely not being eliminated as a category as some of you have feared. All you have to do is see what is left and you know they are doing well. Are we happier now?????……..Jennifer and Cathy [Cathy is in charge and oversees  the Linea jewelry line], are coming up today to work on videos and a LIVE CHAT TOMORROW….Jen and I will let you know exactly when tomorrow……………………….enjoy your day…………Love………………………Louis

Good Morning Louis, Whisper knits are my absolute favorites. The original v-neck t-shirt in the bright colors I purchased multiples. Now its time to replace them. I hope you will include these in the future. I’d love to have a soft white, iris blue/purple, and royal blue. I would love companion pieces from the original collection, too. Now that its “winter” here in Syracuse, I’m practically living in the long-sleeve, tunic length Whisper knit tops. Please keep them and your beautiful jewelry coming!! Thank you, Louis!

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Linda….you know we work almost more than a year out so any request would have to be 2021, but I do hear you. If only the buyers did. I think you all should start a post…..”WHISPER KNITS FOR SPRING/SUMMER”….We are working on next Oct, Nov. Dec of 2020….the rest of the year is finished.

  2. Joanne C

My new yellow Whisper knit sweater arrived. It is a beauty! Thus far the new whisper knit has nothing but 5 star ratings including one from me. I am glad if we could only have one new whisper knit this season that it is a winner. I live in Chicago I have been keeping track since it has turned so cold, I wear whisper knit a lot. under blazers etc.

  3. antiquelover

Please bring back the WK pencil skirts. These are a necessity in my wardrobe and required in organizations that
I represent. Love the soft suiting of a whisper knit skirt!!!!

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear antiquelover…..I love antiques too! I want to bring back the WK pencil skirt, the midi skirt and the pant!!!…..but it’s not up to me…..it’s totally up to the QVC PTB, and what budget they allow my buyer. It really isn’t even up to the buyer. They are basically told what to do, and they follow orders.

  4. Nancy (AKA TheOwl)

Yes, good news indeed. I do not understand the buyer! I have wondered over and over, “What on earth were they thinking?” I’d almost like an apology for that really painful and to me – crazy – decision. We are down in the 30s every day right now and it has been snow flurrying for the past two days here. Hubby has been racing around when he has a minute getting everything winter-ready. Today it was taking the screens down off the sliders and covering the air conditioner. He just barely planted my bulbs and my wildflower seeds for next Spring. After getting snow fencing all over the yard since we so frequently get 40 and 50 mile an hour winds in winter. This means you snow blow the same snow over and over again as it blows back into the driveway and walks constantly. I’ve been “in” my WK turtlenecks for over 2 months already. Another fan of the WK midi here, and always add a couple of new colors to my turtleneck collection. Unlike another poster above I really like the ENR WK offerings. I think you give us a good balance and I’m grateful! I continue to hope for color clusters of all sorts of WK pieces! Thank you Louis for your recent reminder comment about pairing our new blazers with ruanas. When my WK arsenal is well replenished, I find SO many things to wear with things like the plaid big deal jackets and the wonderful reorder blazers. THAT’s what I call easy dressing! I have been collecting ruanas for years – many from Peru – and recently paired my new caramel big deal blazer with a great ruffle bottomed sweater cape from D. Basso A228744 in a color the Q calls Maroon, tucking the ruana neatly under the sharp lapels of that jacket in front and under the lapel collar in bak.. Burgundy over the knee boots matched the maroon perfectly and with a vintage Linea WK pencil skirt – set the jacket off beautifully. Lots of appreciative comments. Happily saving up for the return of Whisper Knits!

  5. Ann

Louis – Im so glad that whisper knits will be back. It is crazy to have “big deals” and not have a whisper knit top to complete to complete the outfit. I love any turtleneck and the sleeveless ones for under a jacket. I love all your designs. You make my life so much easier, because Linea always fits and looks so good for any occasion.

  6. April

It certainly seemed like madness not to have the beloved and normally fast-selling WK represented by more than one style this season. I personally own almost every color in the original T neck sweater, as well as those incredible original V necks. Numbers don’t lie, and neither do the reviews. As long as everyone else is clamouring for new styles, I’d like to throw in my two cents which would be to ask for a new iteration of the original turtleneck with flat instead of ribbed bottom and cuffs. I love that jersey knit; it’s so flattering and wearable under blazers, but bottom ribbing resists lying flat which is not always a flattering or smooth look. Plus, a new version might appeal to your buyer; not the “same old, same old”, AND they could change the price! Trying to think like a Capitalist here, lol.

Ah Dear Louis we LOVE you❣️ Happier now, you bet 🙂 We packed yesterday for our last camping adventure of the year in our little silver house and Walter was “helping” me get together some warmer clothes. He started pulling out WK after WK, to my chorus of “Oh no, not cold enough for the turtleneck yet, the chili pepper er it had a baking accident and can only stay home now, the blackberry got caught between the grandson and his dog and … , the black cowl and funnel neck … oooh we must save those for the embroidered skirts …” Took a long time and a few tears over needing new WK to get packed. Halfway to Richmond, on a rainy, bumper to bumper 95 outside DC, I started cheering and reading your note. Walter’s response was “Hooray, new WK!!!” LOL. When Q finally ships my 2 new V necks and 1 elbow sleeve WK odered Oct 30, I’ll be reviewing and likely ordering duplicates, and maybe that yelliow.too. Now to get them to figure out why they never post my reviews lately … I will be happy with whatever you can bring us, and thank you for advocating for us. The original swing sweater is still my favorite, and I don’t mind repeat colors after a few years. If I loved it enough to buy, likely I’ll need a replacement sooner or later 🙂

Cathy (and the grateful Walter 🙂

  8. Grace

    Dear Louis,
I’m so VERY happy to hear this news and that our whining helped a bit!! Whatever it takes 😉 Everyone has their WK “favorites” and I have to say, I LOVE all my WKs, but I’m especially fond of the WK midi skirt. So, I hope the buyers reconsider it for next year. I thought it sold out completely?? Thank you for all you do for us and for putting up with our occasional cranky requests 😉

  9. Cela

We KNEW you’d come through for us! “ Here’s looking at you kid !” Now let’s talk whisper knit waist whittling, posh knit, Milano knit, zip front, asymmetrical front,
Kimono cardigan , turtle necks … Quiet is kept we, (or I am ) are boycotting new “vendors” , they don’t measure up in quality, and prices at QVC are outrageous.
Maybe it’s the tariff’s war, I don’t know, but I’m sticking with designers who deliver PROFESSIONALLY produced items. I can’t afford to experiment . WHO can
deliver the variety and splendid quality of knits you have? I’m not ranting, it’s not my style, I’m just expressing my honest feelings. QVC please give credit where
It’s due . If Louis is tired, that’s an entirely different issue. Louis how is your hiatus going? I also could not phathom how QVC would allow you and your Jac to make a six hour trip when there were SO MANY options , it’s heartbreaking. QVC ?

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Cela….it’s not much of a hiatus! Dead lines keep coming up and the work is busier than ever. I must say not having to go down to QVC is wonderful. It was very stressful on so many levels. I feel free.

  10. CGee

Yes, we ARE happier now! My WK request is for your classic turtleneck — maybe lighter colors for will be popular for spring? One of your sage greens to go with the gorgeous Loden Trench and all our green bohos? Cream, butter, sage, anything soft. Fingers crossed 🙂

  11. Michelle

    Louis

This is wonderful, wonderful news. Yeah for all of us WK lovers! And thank you for all of your hard work behind the scenes to remedy our lack of new/reordered WK styles this season.

I’m looking forward to the Facebook Live chat tomorrow. Enjoy your evening.

    Michelle

  12. Sharon L

I would love a whisper knit vest. Tell your buyer to check the sell numbers for Logo. I don’t think she understands that a vest can cover lumps and bumps a lot more comfortably than spanx and the market is craving them.

  13. Joanne C

My new yellow v neck whisper knit sweater just arrived yesterday. What a great happy color for the winter. It fits to perfection! I own so many whisper knit sweaters that I love. I am glad to hear the category is not being eliminated.

  14. Sonia

I will beg yet again for the original Whisper Knit. The ENR is clingy, no matter how much I oversize. Please do the original lightweight wonderful WK. Also I tried those skirted (swing) models that you have presented the past couple years, but they make me look huger than I am, so please do regular sweaters with normal sleeves that those of us with short arms can fold up. For whatever it is worth, I would not buy a short or even 3/4 sleeved sweater. I only wear a sweater if I’m cold and then I want full length sleeves (live in Texas). Also Deep Forest Green is still desperately needed if we could get original WK in a normal style with neckline close to the neck. Please keep in mind a sweater is intended for warmth, so wide open necklines do not serve a purpose. I know I’m dreaming here, but thank you for even looking at my request.

I do love the 3/4 sleeve cotton sweaters you did. There is room for more of those.

  15. luvitorleaveit

Thank heavens WK will still be available!!! I mean really that would have been almost impossible to envision no more WK. A WK vests would be fantabulous…keeping my fingers crossed I would buy any color.

  16. JBCinSF

Years ago you had great WhisperKnit pants in regular and petite. I have them in several colors, including a beautiful forest green. More recently you brought them back in port and black only.
I would LOVE to have WK pants (petite for me) in navy, chocolate, forest green, charcoal. WK head to toe is such a great look and so comfortable.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Me too. I love WK dressing from head to toe so to speak, but it’s always a challenge to get the buyers to buy them! I will try because I do believe in them. getting them to buy 2 lengths is also a huge challenge. Something else has to be eliminated when they buy 2 lengths. It’s like buying 2 separate styles.

  17. Chris/Jazzmom

Any hope on having some future WKs in caramel, deep forest green & turquoise to go with our Big Deal plaid blazers? I am still waiting for those ENR WKs to ship. A warehouse is closing & this is causing delays in receiving our recent orders from around Halloween.

Glad that WKs are going to be available in the future.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Chris…no promises. I feel like I have exhausted those colors now for two seasons and it’s time to move on. The Azure [turquoise] is a possibility, but not always an easy color to sell.

  18. Goldie76

Thank heavens! Many of us were doubting QVC’s profit acumen and foresight. They heard the Linea Ladies roar — at last! Whisper Knits are the cream in our coffee, the chocolate on our pillow, a gorgeous staple in our wardrobe that we continue to want and need. Thank you for fighting for the cause, Louis.

  19. Pat Hill

    Hi Louis,

I would love a whisper knit vest.

    Pat

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Pat…..I agree 100%. I have already made two samples of button front vests. One was short to wear under blazers and the other was long like the open front cardigan with the patch pockets. The buyer rejected both because she didn’t see the preceived value. She thought they were too expensive for sleeveless garments. I disagreed!!! But lost the battle. She has the pocketbook, not me. I still have the sample of the short vest.

  20. Melissa W

Good news Louis! Still waiting on my pale yellow one. I have so many WKs and love them all. Being in Florida, I hope you are able to bring back the recent elbow length style in more colors. Love those!! Sure would’ve liked more twinsets with that cropped cardigan. I was only able to pick up two sets.

Looking forward to your live chat!

  21. Seka

Louis! Whisper Knit is my all time favourite to wear top to bottom! Everything I see on the Eileen Fisher website (which I no longer buy) I would love in your Whisper Knit! Some of my WK pieces I wear all year round – and I live in a 4 season city! I simply don’t understand the Q! There should be WK Dresses, Pants, Skirts, Sweaters, Cardigans, Hats, Scarves, Gloves, Sweaer Coats……was happy to read you are making progress!
    Seka.

  22. Romy

Any chance the new WK will be a swing style? I haven’t yet received the latest WK style yet but I had to order up because it was narrow for my figure in the hips and sometimes that means it will not fit in the shoulders and bust. I love your swing styles because there is extra room in the hips where I need it. I would love a short sleeved swing sweater in white for spring/summer should that be a possibility. Thank you!

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Romy….be careful not to buy the WK too big. The measurements will always seem smaller than you think you should wear. That is because the every needle rib is so stretchy. If we made it the measurement of your hip it would look baggy. Many women already buy their sweaters one size smaller. You know your body so compare to other ENR WK sweaters you own…..also the V-neck has high side slits. I would love a short sleeve or elbow sleeve white WK for spring/summer, but the buyers have it in their heads that no one will buy a “sweater” passed Jan. or for the summer. I disagree, and we have sold them in the past, but it’s their money!
