Thanks for the photos. I was recalling your story of when you and Donna Karan were at I think Parsons.
You had shared of story that your sweet mother used to sew your designs because you and Donna either hated to sew or were not as accomplished as your mom.
What a wonderful woman. My wonderful mother will be visiting tomorrow for a couple of days. We sit on the screened porch with my niece and just talk, do crosswords together or play scrabble. We are able to sit 6-8’ apart for our social distancing.
I hope that I recalled the story about your mom correctly.
    take care

Dear Sarah, you do remember correctly. My mother worked in NYC and worked for a dress manufacturer on 7th Ave. She made the first samples so she was an accomplished seamstress. Sometimes she was asked to model the collection for customers which she gladly did…..extra money….She worked until she married at 27….When Donna and I were in Parsons we only lived 15-20 minutes from each other, and spent many many evenings and overnights, not going to sleep working on projects. We were both terrible sewers! I hated the sewing machine, and so did Donna! It was our enemy. Many evening my mother took pity on us, and volunteered to help us by sewing our garments together as we took a break to eat my Mom’s dinner that she made for us. Donna loved it….yummy…..My mother and I were very close. Sometimes she and I would look through her boxes of old photos. There was a story with each one. I know she had a good time reminiscing, and so did I…..There is never enough time, and there are so many more questions I would have liked to ask her. Enjoy your times with your Mom.

Thank you for sharing with us the wonderful mothers who were all so dear to you, Louis. I know that you and Jac took such devoted care of her mother, Marianne. And also that Jac cooked for and sang to your girls, a mother to them in every sense of the word. I tragically lost my own dear mother to a drunk driver when I was but 15, but a mother’s love never leaves you. This horrid virus is keeping my wonderful son from coming here this year, as we are under stay at home orders in both of our states. But I have no doubt that I will hear from him today, along with his wife and my 5 year old grandson. And we will be with each other in spirit as well as being able to see each other though the miracle of technology. I find myself relying more deeply on the connections of the spirit these days.
