“MARCH SNEAK PEEK #7”

Sneak Peek #7 is the BATIK DRESS, A232516. So many of you have asked me to do a new version of the maxi dress, A224712. The request was ….SHORTER…..&…..SLEEVES………..This is my answer to you. This dress is the exact body of the maxi dress. It has set in border trims, which are a different pattern from the dress………and the addition of an added border to the hem of theΒ  3/4 length sleeve. It is in the same 91% polyester, 9% spandex as the maxi, so it is the same easy care, wash and wear….packable dress. If you’re flying somewhere, and you don’t have time to make a big change for a date after you have landed……… say…from the plane to the boardroom….keep this in your carry on….make a quick change in the bathroom and you’re ready to go. The dress has a side zipper for easy on and off. The colors are…………….GREEN………………BROWN………………RED………………that is a very simplified description of the colors. The RED is a deep rich red with WHITE and TANGERINE. The GREEN is a SPRUCE GREEN with WHITE and SPEARMINT GREEN, and the BROWN is an ESPRESSO with BARK BROWN and WHITE. The fit is the same as the maxi, so what ever size you were comfortable in….I would recommend ordering the same size.. This looks like a very simple dress, but all of the inset bands around the neckline, the torso and the sleeve are all the added touches you would expect to find on a dress 4 times the price…………..The print comes from my archives and is a beautiful BATIK wood block print……painstakingly reproduced. When you double click and click again, you will get to see the print up close for all the details. If you need further measurements…like length, they are already posted on my Linea site…………………………………………………………………………………………………

……………………………………..ATTENTION!!!!! This dress will NOT be on my 5am or 1pm shows…………………I will be presenting it on the MORNING SHOW with PAT and JAYNE, which starts at 6am….right after my 5am show. I do not know what exact time I am scheduled to be on……………….This is easy dressing at it’s simplest…nothing to think about….slip it on….add a few accessories…….. sandals…..a tote…..sunglasses and your ready to greet the day!……………….

……………………………….enjoy……………..much Love………………………..Louis

OMG Louis, I love this dress and I love it worn with the Georgette Shirt jacket worn over as a little coverup. A214117? It comes in two of the dress colors, what do you think?

I’m not sure if I would like to see the print of the dress through the sleeves. I would have to see it on. If the dress were sleeveless….for sure.

    Louis,

I posted elsewhere on your site but thought I should comment here, too. I ordered it in the black/brown combination and plan on wearing it with chunky turquise. Also, I have ordered the red/orange version along with your red graduated necklace which I have been eyeing since last summer. I showed the dress to Chris and he said, “Hey, that dress is in “Hokie” colors!” (that’s the orange and burgundy of Virginia Tech his alma mater, which sports teams are called the Hokies). The man loves his Hokies and even through these are not quite the colors, I’ll let him think I’m showing the spirit. LOL!

Thank you for making this dress. I was one of the ladies who requested a short/sleeved version of the maxi and I really appreciate what you’ve come up with for us. I am more of a solid color girl but you have won me over with several of your gorgeous prints. Can’t wait to receive this dress.

Dear Julia…..I am more than happy that Chris is happy! but I am doubly please that you are taking a giant leap and trying my prints. This particular Ikat print is very chic and sophisticated and comes from an original art.. Remember, these dresses will be on the 6am show on Mar.4th with Pat and Jayne. I think I am number 5 or 6 in the line up, but that can change!

This angled stripes are so figure flattering! Wish the neckline were lower. Do you think a dressmaker could easily fix?

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Kate, the alteration can be done, but it isn’t easy. The reason is there is an approx. 3/8 inch double stitched facing that would very carefully have to be removed. The V would have to be finished in a different way, because the existing facing would then be too short for the lowered V. The fabric would have to be folded under to the desired depth and then top stitched. As said, it can be done by someone who has a lot of patience and skill. There is only so low I am allowed to go….sorry. I would prefer many of the Vs to be lower, like on the sequin dress, but we have learned the hard way…..the lower you go the higher the returns! Only the hosts can get away with cleavage!

      1. Kate

Thanks for the detailed info. I’m going to give it a go as I really love the print.

If you get a 3X you can face the dress and probably have plenty for a scarf, if you put a center back seam.

Louis, thanks for explaining the V-neck issue – I also would prefer a lower V. I do wish the Q would understand that not everyone wants to wear high v-necks, or cover up their arms and knees!

        1. Louis Dell'Olio

Trust me when I say…it’s not the Q….it the consumer who dictates. Again returns are much higher when the Vs go lower….what can I say…..on many styles I think it ages it but I have seen the numbers for myself. That goes for scoop necks or tanks. The lower the neckline the higher the returns….but I am working on inching them down….a little.

You did a very clever thing one time with one of your sleeveless dresses (solid black and purple several years ago). There was a stitch at the top of the neckline that one could either elect to remove or keep. If removed the neckline was much lower. I’m wondering if that might solve the problem in the future? (I love your summer dresses!)

            1. Louis Dell'Olio

Yes, I know the dress….if it’s a neckline that I can do that with, I will certainly repeat that little trick.

    Dear Louis,

I’m crazy about that “Rainbow Seed Beads” Necklace … can you tell us if on the green dress, is there one necklace or multiples?

    Thanks!

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Cathy, That is one necklace with many rows of seed beads. There will be two combinations the “rainbow” as you call it ,and the other has gold and tortoise beads.

      1. Nancy (aka TheOwl)

Oh BOY I’m looking forward to these seed bead necklaces πŸ™‚ And the wave in goldtone. And the fish necklace πŸ™‚ Louis I LOVE all 3 of the hammered disk & bead necklaces! And of course I want to mix and match when they are all in my repertoire – joining the OTHER fabulous Linea jewelry pieces I already own and love.

      2. Cathy in PA

Thank you, Louis … I look forward to wearing that Rainbow πŸ™‚

  5. Carol

    Louis:
Does the tobacco shrug coordinate with the brown dress? It looks like it might on the Q photos, but not so much on yours. What about the ivory shrug? Or the white jean jacket? I’m liking the color of the dress, but I need to “casual” it up for my wardrobe and I’m always needing a wrap in a/c.

    Thanks.
    crdlb

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Carol….the Tobacco Shrug is almost exactly the same as the lighter golden brown in the print. The shrug is slightly deeper due to the saturation of the yarn. The white jean jacket looks great over all of the dresses.
