“SLEEK RAYON”

……………………..There are always different qualities of fabric, and it all starts with the quality of the yarn. There are many types of rayon fabric, and likewise many different qualities of yarn. The rayon fabric I used for this collection was at the pinnacle of rayon fabrics……………….The dress to the right was simple and sleek. Its’ only adornment the custom made artisan gold bean buttons. You simply can not find dresses like this anymore, and IMHO they are desperately needed……….The sleek zip front jacket, again only has the clear resin and gold embedded orb zipper pull to adorn it……The addition of the clear resin and gold stick pin added a special and unexpected touch.

Yes, we desperately need chic, classic dresses!!!!! I was hoping we might look forward to some of that action with the 2020/21 winter collection, now never to be. To fill in my dress needs this summer I have ended up turning to David Dangle who runs Joan Rivers Co. Joan has some really great floral print simple v neck dresses that are truly throw on and go. I add a short light weight jacket and sandals and I’m ready for church, special functions etc that abound over the spring summer. The one I really love is A397545. Topper jackets I am loving are Isaac A397166, from whom I rarely purchase but had to this year. Sandals are A375455, tops made from recycled plastic milk cartons. And since they are Keen, excellent foot and arch support and comfort, I have to fill in these holes in my wardrobe due to the 110 pounds I have lost and now kept off over a year and my summer clothing is in scarce supply after getting rid of all my plus size fashions. Further I tried the Jason Wu Big deal A397290. These work though I had to shorten the shoulder straps 2 inches each and the fabric is pretty weird. I really wish I could have you look at it and feel it. It does not wash well. I actually have to press these after washing which is annoying. And the first time I wore one I got a few drops on the skirt while cooking. That should have been an easy clean. But after two washes those marks would not come out so I got out my Norwex cleaners from Scandinavia and used a toothbrush on the spots with their powdered laundry detergent mixed with their stain remover and the spots finally came out on the 3rd wash. I would have loved to have heard what your thoughts were on that fabric. Just really different. And I’ll bet you can rejoice with me that the Cobalt Glitterati finally had one come back in which I was lucky enough to get. It is enroute now and my sapphire embroidered skirt will be happy about that as will my sapphire zip front tunic jacket AND the sapphire cotton eyelet skirt and more. I’m finding that if I keep on checking all the Linea items SOMETHING I really wanted pops up for a day or two. Also I am getting doubles of the Moss Crepe sleeveless tank in both black and blue. Holy Smokes those pieces get used over and over and over with everything!!!! Yesterday I wore the black one with the Linea Lotus Print drape front jacket in Blush. Tied at the waist over the black moss crepe skirt that matches the asymmetrical moss crepe top I altered to make into a cowl as there was no way I could properly cover my undergarments with the asymmetrical top – my rib cage/chest/shoulder are just too narrow to work with that one but the skirt gets a work out and is used extremely often. Basically Louis, I’m just your ordinary customer trying hard to adjust to the loss of Linea and trying to cherry pick for well constructed garments among other QVC vendors which work well with the entire core of my wardrobe, all Linea. If you had been treated better at QVC we might not have to struggle along like this playing hit and miss with individual pieces from other lines. I realize the powers that be at QVC do not remotely care about my plight or my concerns. They had an incredible vendor whom they sent into retirement. I sound a little bit upset and I apologize for that. I know you are happy in the path you have set out for yourself and I love what you are doing with the retrospectives but am mourning for the loss of the kinds of garments and craftsmanship you put into every design, Have a great week getting ready for your trip and good luck to all the other Linea ladies who are on shopping journeys similar to mine now that new Linea is no more. My vintage pieces are doing well after alteration, where possible, to my current size Large and continue to dominate my closets and options.

Dear Nancy…First, congratulations on your weight loss….I know how difficult that is, and 110 lbs is a huge accomplishment!……I’m not sure if you know this but Elaine, my manufacturer, has also been producing all of the JR apparel from the start so the quality is good. However, Elaine has closed her doors and has retired also so the JR line has been brought “in house”, and QVC will be producing it going forward…..I have to be honest now that I’m no longer at QVC I was never a fan of Isaac’s style, never have been, but everyone has their own likes and dislikes. As for Jason Wu, bringing him to QVC is a mystery to me. Other than doing the one dress for Michelle Obama I don’t know much more about him as a designer. He did one nice faux leather coat for QVC, but the rest, for me has been mediocre. I don’t understand the reasoning dropping me with a big customer base, and bringing him in….an unproven vendor. I don’t know for sure, but rumor has it that it hasn’t been successful? but that’s just rumor not fact….I don’t know the Big Deal so I have no comment on that.

Thank you Louis and I agree with your observations. I included the item number on the Wu dress at QVC in case you wanted to take a look. But to me what is written about the fabric content tells me not much but perhaps you might be able to deduce something from the fabric description. I totally “get” what you have indicated above. But I was desperate, needing a dress for church for a big family post pandemic week-long gathering. And Of COURSE it never came in time. QVC indicated the big deal would ship on June 19 – many days after the Big Deal presentation. But of COURSE it did not. It never shipped until many days after that and then shipping took forever. I am Absolutely DELIGHTED to learn of Elaine’s role in producing the Joan Rivers items and I guess that’s why I got so lucky with those dresses. Very classy. Very nice and perfect for the 107 degree heat for the week we were in southern Utah for the family gathering.

Simple and sleek! The perfect black dress! I am in total agreement with your assessment! Thanks for sharing, Louis. Happy Sunday!
