“LATE NIGHT SHOWS!”

…………………Over my 20 year span at QVC I’ve had more than my share of late night and over night shows……..as many of you know…….It seemed the longer I was at QVC the more late night shows I got!!!!….Arriving at the hotel in the afternoon, Jac and I would have something small to eat, and then rest. We usually tried to get to QVC at least 1 1/2 hours to 2 hours before a show. Jac would go to the Green Room, and start to get ready, and I would go into the model’s area to work with the stylist. I always sent the numbered sketches in advance with the model’s name on them so the stylist could pull the right size clothes they would need before I arrived……Hopefully, by the time I got there the clothes would be lined up on racks in the show order. Once that was done we would go through what she or he had done, and discuss any problems that might have come up. I usually brought a slew of my samples just incase they didn’t have them in the right color or size needed. This would happen quite often, and it was a good thing I brought my 3 or 4 garment bags filled with samples. Once that was complete the stylist and I would assign shoes. I always preordered from QVC inventory the shoes I would need. Once that was done the stylist would start to steam and press the clothes. While that was being done I would hang the accessory bags on each outfit. That would complete the process…….Then the models would arrive and take their usual places in the cubicles they always took during my shows…..That’s the way each show was done no matter what time of day….or night.   As you can see from the photos, arriving at QVC late at night was quite spooky. The parking lot was empty since mine was the only show at that time of night…..The only people there were two security men at the front door to check us in, and then again two people at the “Hospitality” desk where we would sign in at the back area by the Green Rooms……It was already a long day for all of us, but we had to get the adrenalin going. The girls always said it was easier to get the energy up to do my late shows, because they knew they were going to be wearing pretty clothes, and not the usual fare that they normally had to wear…..It’s always easier at 2am when you put on some sparkly sequins! LOL…I would go through the sketches with each of the models so they knew exactly what they were wearing, and any special instructions I had for them……At the appropriate time I would check out how everyone looked in their first outfits, and we would proceed to the set…..Jac would take my hands and say to me….”hon….All you have to be is Wonderful”…..That always gave me a boost!……After the show, back to the hotel for some sleep before we headed home in the morning…..Another show done…..and back to “our own separate peace”

When you said the models were excited to wear your clothes rather than “the usual fare they had to wear”, I said “Amen” out loud! I don’t even check for clothing on QVC anymore. I am still scouring EBay and such though! It is lovely hearing your memories. I know those late night shows were always better with Jac at your side, taking good care of you. I absolutely loved settling in with coffee or a glass of wine to see one of your shows. Such fun! Love and hugs to you!

Louis, I neglected to note how valuable your commentary was. When you were through describing an item, I appreciated it more, knew what to wear it with, had ideas on dressing it up and down and could picture it in my life. All you had to be was wonderful – and you were!

    Louis,
It sounds laborious and dreary having to do late night shows. (Except for your fun models and Jac’s company.) I always imagined that QVC was buzzing round the clock. I didn’t want to miss any of your shows, so I set my alarm (in California) for whatever time your show was on in east coast time. When my alarm went off, I quickly turned on my TV, heart pounding in anticipation. I worried that items would sell out before I could get them ordered as I struggled to decide what to buy and in what color. Louis, no show on QVC ever compared to yours. The preparation was evident and appreciated. I finally became savy enough to check the QVC website after midnight to see if things were posted before your show to ensure that I didn’t miss out. That said, nothing compared to seeing the your amazing clothing presented on screen. Loads of fabulous jewelry, sunglasses, the appropriate shoe, berets, the beautiful models and Jac – the fairest of them all- ahhhhhh those were the days!!!!!

I believe it because the girls always had a glow unequal
to when they were wearing other lines. Together, they looked like the “Linea” girls, stylish and classy and ready for a stroll down any famous street, country road or city walk…they just looked other – worldly, someone you wanted to be like, someone who could move you into another dimension, with special powers . Ooooooh. Love Linea, miss Linea for the power it bestows. 😢
