“MY PA ODYSSEY”

…….I haven’t taken the trip to PA for a long time……way before I ended my association with QVC….so this was a true odyssey for me. The reason for my trip was to do a LIVE JEWELRY presentation with Jill Bauer. As you know from my posts, I have created an exclusive group of Sterling Silver, 18 Karat gold plate, 18 Karat Rose Gold plate and Bronze jewelry all plated,  for her to sell in her JUST JILL SHOP…..So off I went…..I made plans to meet with Angela and Chantal at the Warner Hotel, where I was staying, in West Chester PA. It was a movie theater that had been converted into a hotel. Other than the facade you would never know. I had some things I wanted to give to the girls so we sat in my room, had a glass of wine, and laughed a lot. When Cathy arrived at 7pm we all met in the lobby. We said our good byes, and Cathy and I waited for Bernadette to arrive. She is Jill’s assistant and brought us to Jill’s office.  The office was literally 5 minutes from the hotel. Jill and I had enough time before the show to reconnect, and get caught up on what has been going on in our lives. Before we knew it it was SHOW TIME……We immediately fell into a smooth and comfortable rhythm.. We had a great time, and the hour went by so quickly….It was 9PM and a Cathy and I were to meet Karen and Bill, her partner, at a restaurant called The Split Rail, again near Jill’s office. Karen ordered a Humus Plate to start and it was delicious. Cathy and I both had cheese burgers and huge amount of French Fries!!! I am not used to eating this late or all of this food for dinner, and when I finished eating I was STUFFED. To our surprise they were having a DRAG SHOW that night, and they were setting up, [photo at lower right]. Wester Chester is a college/university town, and the place was packed with students. I was exhausted from the day….getting up early, driving 3 hours to the hotel , seeing the girls and then doing the show. There was no way I could stay and watch the show considering I was going to do another show the next day from Cathy’s home…..so off we went…..The next day I left the hotel and went to Cathy’s for a lovely breakfast. Then we set up for the show…..After a TWO HOUR SHOW, it was time to leave for my 3 hour plus odyssey home in rain, sleet and snow……I was happy to arrive at home in good time…..and safe and sound…..back to my own separate peace.

I love reading your blog entries and I have been wearing your clothes since you were designing for Anne Klein. I watched and taped your shows on QVC and purchased MANY items from your LINEA collection that I still wear to this day. Quality, stylish clothing NEVER goes out of style!!! I miss seeing you, and your clothes on QVC. Maybe you could thrill your customers by heading South to QVC’s sister network, HSN!!! They could use your expertise!!! Take care!

Dear Vanessa, I thank you for your kind words and your loyalty to the Linea brand, but HSN is owned by QVC, and since QVC dropped the Linea line they certainly don’t want it for HSN.

As a long time Linea lady, I cannot tell you how it raises my spirits to see you having great adventures and successes again. It’s been a tough go for you and you’ve emerged the victor. I’ve always admired you for your talent, your connection to your customers and your kind personality, but the past several years have added a whole new layer of respect for your perseverance, courage and belief in yourself. I’m thrilled to see you moving in these new directions and wish you the very best of luck. Thank you for keeping this blog going and for sharing what you’re doing with us. You da man, Louis!

Oh Louis, I’m devastated. I had no idea you were gone from QVC. I kept watching and waiting, thinking it was a consequence of the pandemic and that you’d be back. I have had your shows on my DIRECTV recording list for years and I kept thinking you were coming back soon. I owned a restaurant for 52 years and couldn’t always be home when your shows were on, but I watched every one.
HOW COULD THEY LET A GEM LIKE YOU GO!?! I have your clothes, some of which are 15-20 years old. They have stood the test of time in every way. I recently took a trip after Covid, and I found myself looking only for my Linea sweaters and tops to take with me. I can’t believe I won’t ever be the beneficiary of your quality and design expertise again. I’m heartbroken. You and Jac brought such class to QVC and I was so very sad when you lost her. Please please please consider finding a new home to sell your classic clothes. I could go on and on, but it doesn’t help or change anything. Just know how VERY MUCH you are missed. QVC. Made a huge mistake- we don’t all want jeans and joggers –
God bless you. I’ll be watching and hoping to find you SOMEWHERE.
