“JUNE DRESS & SHRUG”

Sometimes, while leafing through a book, a picture jumps off the page and captures your attention. That is exactly what happened when I saw the Maria Ender painting…………. painted in Russia in 1920. She was an Abstract Impressionist. I literally have hundreds of books, which are always a source of inspiration. I hadn’t looked at this particular book in a long time. ” SOVIET COSTUMES AND  TEXTILES  1917-1945″,  was a present given to me by a well know fashion photographer. At the time I remember thinking what an obscure and interesting book it was, but then so was the photographer! I have always thought some day I will use that painting as a print….the day has come, and for me……. it translates into a marvelous summer dress………………..it was the perfect combination of PRINT and FABRIC……………….

A234414, is the Feather Jersey, print dress. It has a not too low SCOOP NECKLINE, and it has a CAP SLEEVE. There is an elastic at the raised waist………….This is NOT supposed to sit at the natural waist. Of course if you are short waisted….. it just may rest at you waist, and that’s OK too. If you are long waisted, and you have the tendency to try to pull things down to sit at your waist….this may not be comfortable for you…..especially if you keep tugging and not allow it to sit properly.  I positioned the elastic where it is to give a longer skirt proportion, which is more slenderizing.. The skirt of the dress is gored, so there is a fit and flare shape to it. In the FEATHER JERSEY, it gives  the skirt a flirty and feminine movement. The dress is approx. 42 inches long for the XS. Of course, the dress is weightless, which is exactly what you want when the temperature rises. I think they are calling the color above Azure, but I’m not sure………for me it is BLUE……… This dress works perfectly with your LIMOGES BLUE or WHITE ponte unlined jackets and your denim jean jackets in the WHITE, INDIGO or SUNBURST YELLOW…………………….when it really gets hot and you know you will need just a “LITTLE SOMETHING”, to cover your bare arms….I have provided you the perfect matching SHRUG, A234415. It too is made in the FEATHER JERSEY, and again, is light as air. For those times when you just need to cover your arms and a jacket or a sweater is just too much, this is the perfect answer. It gives the effect of color blocked solid raglan sleeves on a printed dress. You can keep it in your tote for when you may need it. The color, I believe, is called AZURE [Blue}……….The NECKLACES featured are my GUNMETAL and COLOR BEAD combination………………. I thought you might be interested to know something about the history of  the print you may be wearing………….scroll down for more colors………………………………enjoy………much Love…………………….Louis

Such an interesting history of this print. And, lovely colors all. The gray is so sophisticated but I also love the blue. Oh, decisions, decisions!!

Interesting print and colorations, and this design will work for my body type. I am especially pleased with the piped neck line instead of the elastic, and the raised waist not interfering with the bust as often happens with the empire designs. I can’t say enough positive things about the Feather Jersey; it’s my go-to fabric of choice.

Is this similar in fit to the “Sophia” dress, Louis? It looks like it might be.

Gorgeous! I’m in for the blue as I have all three jeans jackets and love the look of a jeans jacket with a dress. Plus I can put one of your blazers over it and I’m ready for work. I just might get all three because they’re just what I’ve been looking for and each is so different. Love the background information on your inspiration. Fascinating!

Can’t wait to wear this dress!

Dear Louis, I’m so excited about this exquisite Russian Impressionist print dress! All of the colors are stunning, but I’ll order early to insure getting the blue to wear with my Limoges and my white jackets. I’ll also order the classy shrug for warmer times! Perfect and just in time for my upcoming trip 🙂 THANK YOU SO MUCH!

    Oh, Louis !!!

LOVE This! Azure is a must, as I have those denim jackets in all three colors, and have been searching everywhere (to NO avail) for a top or scarf in blues and yellows … and you give me a DRESS! Red, well, maybe just because it makes me HAPPY. And then, then, then … you bring out the perfect black and white travel dress … with hints of luscious background colors to keep me from being so bored with black & white … ! Thank you for the UNLINED FJ, for the tiny capped sleeve … I just changed my mind again about clothes for our big late June wedding LOL. And that Azure one needs to be worn barefoot at sunset on a beach somewhere …

Thank you, Louis. I love the shorter length and the beautiful print. The blue, in particular, is painterly and romantic. We plant our garden and potted plants with those exact shades. I predict my husband will be saying “Wow!” again in the near future. That was the only word he was able to manage when he saw me in the latte tie dye dress, lol! Thanks for getting me so many wows after 16 years of marriage!

I have to say, this might be the best late-summer-what-to-wear-to-a-daytime-wedding dress I have seen this season. Betting the black option is outta here fast.

    Good morning Louis!!

What a wonderful print!! Love the watercolor look. Just one question? Length of the dress please?

    Regards,
    Chris

OMG, Louis, you’re killing me! This print is gorgeous and I want the dress in all three colors! I have turned one of my four bedrooms into a giant walk-in closet just to accommodate all my Linea! I loved seeing the inspiration for your design—and I’,m so grateful to have a true designer designing pieces for us at very affordable prices. Thank you, Louis, thank you. Now I’m off to Johannesburg tomorrow and I’ll try to watch the shows on-line. I don’t return to the US until July!
