“THE CAMEL SEAMED JACKET & PANT”

camel

A236145, is the new SEAMED JACKET with the ASYMMETRICAL ZIPPER and POCKETS….The coordinating SLIM LEG PANT is….A236146……………Ladies….this is a SUPERIOR JACKET…….one you would only find in a DESIGNER BOUTIQUE….there is nothing ordinary or typical about this jacket…starting with the FABRIC……………….This is a brand new fabric to the Linea customer, and I believe it is one of the finest fabrics I have used. It is 77% Polyester/ 18% Rayon/ 5% Spandex…….I hear the nonbelievers say…Oh another polyester fabric……I will say this again, because it is worth repeating…..there are many many types and  qualities of polyester yarn………The fineness of the yarn, the way it is spun, the finishing and the dyeing, all determine the outcome. Look at your new designer catalogs from Saks, Bergdorfs, Neimans, and read what the fabric contents are of these clothes that cost thousands of dollars…….many of them are synthetic or synthetic blends…….Remember RAYON is not considered synthetic and is very costly. I KNOW this, because I have been there! Many of the FINEST EUROPEAN mills are producing the most incredible polyester and polyester blended fabrics I have ever seen and touched. Natural fibers are getting harder and harder to get and are more and more expensive. I would much prefer to use a high quality poly or poly blend than an inferior natural fiber…..OK, I’m getting off of my soap box……back to THIS FABRIC. My descriptions will mean nothing until you feel it for yourself….but I will try. The surface looks like a cross between a crepe and a gaberdine. It is smooth to the touch, but there is a slight surface texture, which is more evident in the paler colors. This is a BEEFIER, or weightier fabric than I normally use, but that is exactly what is needed for this type of SEAMED JACKET…..it almost has a SPONGY hand….which in this case is a GOOD THING. Jac and I were browsing through Bergdorf Goodman recently, and in the Dior department we came across a jacket who’s fabric was remarkably close to this one……….and the jacket was $3500.

….This JACKET has two BODY SEAMS down the front….PLUS a BODY DART, all of which are top stitched to EXAGGERATE the shape. This is not an hour glass shaped jacket….it GENTLY follows the lines of the body. There are FOUR top stitched BODY SEAMS down the back…..PLEASE notice how all of the seams are placed……again, to ACCENTUATE the form……the jacket is not just cut up willy-nilly……This is a well thought out, executed  and DESIGNED jacket ……The front of the jacket has four pockets. The two top pockets are classic, however the two bottom pockets are not. They are shaped to follow the hip of a woman’s body. They are not squares of fabric slapped onto a jacket…..They are also slanted in a way that not only conforms to the form of a woman, but also makes it easy to put your hand into without distorting the line or shape of the jacket. The asymmetrical zip closing is sort of quasi motor cycle jacket….but a VERY CHIC one. The collar and lapel are in perfect proportion to the entire look of the jacket. The jacket hangs beautifully when completely worn open, because the over lap is the same at the bottom as a normal jacket,  and only flares slightly as it goes up….creating the asymmetric look. The sleeves are long and unadorned so those with sleeve length issues can easily shorten them. The jacket is approx. 27 inches long for the XS. It is totally lined in in a beautiful dyed to match satin. The zipper on the camel is an antique BRASS. This is not a two way zipper…..they work best when the jackets zips straight up the front. On this type of jacket, it would only be awkward……This is a washable jacket and you may do so if you please, but for me, a jacket like this should be dry cleaned and professionally pressed ……….really how many times a season will you need to dry clean a jacket? Once…maybe twice at the most.

The PANT, A236146, is NUMERICALLY SIZED!!!  It will be offered in regular and PETITE lengths….I do not have the style number for the petites. It has a zip front with a single button at the 1 1/4 inch waist band. With 5 % spandex…there is PLENTY of STRETCH, which also gives the fabric it’s lofty hand….These pants are unlined….absolutely no need to. With a 7 inch leg opening at the bottom [that’s on the half], I consider these a SLIM LEG PANT……………..once you own one you are going to want more…..but please….when ordering consider the other Linea Ladies who also may want to try a pair. The front of the pant is totally flat, but the back waist band has an elastic that flattens when you put them on. The only other thing I can say is….these are like no other pant I have done and that is entirely due to the fabrication…………………….they just feel different…….and RICH!………………….I have accessorized this CAMEL suit as I would for a run way show……..SIMPLY……….A CAMEL BERET, and my CAMEL SILK/CASHMERE TURTLE NECK….coming next month……..If I had them, I would show camel suede gloves and a Camel suede shoe boot…..actually, Jac has a pair of darker camel suede shoe boots, and she will be wearing them…….Lord and Taylor….if you’re interest….they come in BLACK too. To finish the look off, my simple GOLD SWIRL EARRING, and my GOLD PANTHER LINK WATCH………that’s all you need. There is something to be said for a woman that enters a room, dressed head to toe, in an impeccable CAMEL SUIT…………..in a word………………..CLASS…………….enjoy………….much Love…………………….Louis

    Dear Louis:

I adore this jacket! However. I have a dilemma. The first time I wore it, the lining split at the seam of the armhole on the right arm. I’m concerned that any repair won’t fix the problem as the edges are slightly frayed. Can I have my tailor remove the lining? Should I have her fix the tear? Or should I give up and return it? I really do not wish to return this jacket as I love the fit and, of course, the design. But I would appreciate your professional opinion as the designer.

    Merci beaucoup!

Dear Belle Femme….since I can’t see the problem the first thing you should do is show it to your tailor….they will know. Maybe they can reinforce it with seam tape on the wrong side so you don’t see it and so it doesn’t happen again.

Louis, what can I say….beautiful collection and I can’t wait to get everything, especially this suit! What is the brand of the shoe booties to which you refer Jac wearing? The color is spot on! Thanks!

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Donna…..they are Anne Klein, and she just got them at Lord & Taylor.

Thank you SO much! What would we do without you??!!!

  3. WNYgal/April

I think that out of all the beautiful things you have designed for QVC, this suit is the pinnacle & aren’t we lucky to be seeing it first. Thanks for all you do.

    OMG!!!…enough said!

Love the seaming details and the fabric looks so yummy! Question: Does the camel have undertones of yellow or pink or ????

    Thank you!

    Carol

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Carol….it’s a true camel hair color, and the under tones are yellow.

Louis, can the Pewter WK (with yellow undertones), be worn with this Camel? I usually pass on Camel due to my coloring–(very Elizabeth Taylor/English/Irish coloring but with Green Eyes), but if I wear a Black WK next to my face, I think I can pull this off. In the past when I wore Camel, people would ask if I was tired—it just washed me out. How can I pass up one of the best Linea suits EVER, after being a loyal customer all these years–and I’m getting the new Ottoman suit in Grey and in Black—so I need this suit in Camel—I do hope you approve!

Yes the pewter or for that matter and med. to dark gray will work and black is the epitome of super chic

Thank you, Louis. I’m going on vacation to Paris on October 2nd for 15 days—can you imagine my new wardrobe—the Black Ottoman suit, the Camel Seamed jacket suit, the Ponte striped dress in the Blue/Black/Grey–so Yves St. Laurent/Rive Gauche, the Black/Ivory Striped Sweater with Black Sequined Bow trim (tres Francais)! I’m also packing the Purple Houndstooth suit from last year, some of the Black Ponte pants and skirts, the Tortoise Ponte zip front jacket and coordinating brown skirt plus an assortment of WK sweaters and T-necks–in Black, Purple and Ruby. I’m taking one Medium suitcase, but I’m checking it—can’t get this in a carry on.

I know you have one more show in September before I leave—could be something from that show in my suitcase, too. When is the October show? I’ll have to make sure I order from my iPad while I’m in Paris, no matter what time, night or day!

            1. Louis Dell'Olio

The beginning of Oct in Paris….how perfect is that….Just before the bone chilling cold comes in. The Oct show is on at 10am on the 18th….so that would be approx. 4pm or 5pm in Paris….don’t know when Daylight Savings time is.

            2. Sheesh

Perfect—I’m back from Paris on October 17th—just in time for the October 18th show! Did I plan this—or what?!

    WoW! A masterpiece of engineering!

    I LOVE you LDO!

  8. Susan (aka CarlyTwila)

GORGEOUS! What is the inseam on the pant, and how much of a hem do they have? I would think being a slim leg pant, they may be shorter than normal, but this leg width has a little more flexibility too. I hope I can make it work! 🙂

  9. Ellen

I can’t take it any more, Louis. I am not sleeping at night thinking of your clothes. I need help! More, more, more.

  10. Diamondscribe

This jacket. This pant. Every color! I had it down to just camel and caviar before seeing this. Will have to work the black in also. Hooray for the slim pant! Thank you!
