“THE FLORAL COTTON SHIRT….another LOOK”

………………HEAT & HUMIDITY…………How much do I hate humidity! It almost makes me long for winter…..OK….I said almost. However, I do have to say, I really don’t like sweaty weather period…….All that said I am always on the hunt for fabrics that are light, and will keep you cool. Fabrics that make you feel you’re wearing nothing……..The cotton in this FLORAL shirt, A233857 IS that fabric. It is super light weight and has a little stretch. It can be worn as a shirt or as a shirt jacket…..Lets discuss the fabric…..There was some criticism that the fabric was cheap, too thin, stiff and not a good quality…..they are wrong on all counts. For a cotton to be this thin you have to use very fine yarns without flaws…..otherwise those flaws would show up in the fabric as slubs, and sometimes specks. The thinner the fabric the finer the yarn, and when you are dealing with natural yarns they have to be sorted by quality. Is this the best cotton in the world….no. If it were the shirt would have a much higher price, but it is considered a very good quality…. Most cottons are finished with a sizing…….a sort of starch, which makes the fabric a little stiff. It makes it easier to handle and sew during production, and it keeps the shirt crisp, which most women appreciate. After a few washings the sizing is gone and the fabric becomes softer…this always happens with cottons and linens…That is the reason, especially with cotton jackets, I say if you want the crispness then have them dry cleaned……if you like the softness then launder…………..Now that the heat and humidity have come to New England, Jac has rediscovered these cotton pieces in print and solid, and said “these are the most comfortable shorts to wear”…..Unfortunately the shorts are sold out, but the shirt is still avail in sizes and colors.  If you are like me and can not stand the humidity then I recommend you give these shirts…………another LOOK………………….

    Dear Louis,
I love the pattern and colors in these beautiful shirts. Would it be possible to incorporate this pattern into your cotton button down the front floral sweaters? I get so many complements on these comfortable sweaters and would love to have them in the new floral patterns and colors. For example, I was exercise walking in the black floral yesterday and a passerby rolled her car window down and said she loved my sweater!
    Thanks!!!!!!!

I’m not sure what you are asking?…..I did this pattern in the sweater already, as you know since you own it

        Dear Louis,
Oops! Well, you can tell how much I like this great pattern! 🙂 I have the navy, coral and black sweaters and have duplicates in reserve. However, I would love to have one with the turquoise background as shown in the photo. Also, a red background would be superb. The new 3/4 sleeve denim jackets are wonderful and so comfortable to wear. Thanks for the fabulous fashions!!!

Dear LoveLinea…..ah yes. I couldn’t agree with you more…..unfortunately, that sweater was not reordered, which surprised me because the new color, BLACK, sold out immediately…..it went on clearance and that was that!……I love that print and by hook or by crook I will bring it back in one way or another!!

            Dear Louis,
Thank you so much for your kind replies. Your clothes are marvelous!

I hope you do, Louis. Love that print. It is truly odd, but sometimes I deliberately ignore an item, thinking that it won’t work for me. And then I order the item, only to discover that it is very flattering. So strange… This sweater (in coral) is one of several Linea pieces that I’ve recently discovered work so well for me.

I’ve been wearing all of these pieces this past week & they are so comfortable. The temp. here in NC yesterday was 104 degrees & VERY HUMID!

Dear Anne….you’ll have to come north for a visit….today is a 10! 80 degrees and no humidity…..Here on the Long Island sound there is a lovely breeze……heaven on Earth

I can only wear cotton in humid weather. It’s getting very expensive and harder to find. I panicked last summer and bought every reasonable cotton dress and skirt I could find.

I know the cotton you’re referring to. Most Q shoppers don’t understand it; not especially in your line.

I like crisp and iron using spray starch.

I love these cotton pieces, and I wish you would do more. I have on the ikat print skirt and top today and love it. thank you

How about that? I have the navy boho printed skirt on today with A92295. I like your combos with the FJ (especially), WK, and the printed tops. Great clothes for a humid day like today. I constantly get complements on this print every time I wear it. 🙂

I have the navy shirt and enjoy wearing it with indigo jeans or white jeans. I have the navy and turquoise shorts. They were a little long for me and needed to be hemmed The shorts are comfortable and loose fitting and good to wear when gardening! I also have the solid aqua and navy feather(?)fabric tanks to wear with them.

  7. Diane

I have all three of these shirts and love them. Nothing like cotton on a hot day!

  8. Chris/Jazzmom

I own the three skirts and today would be a great day to wear one of them!! Thanks for the suggestion!! I do not own the shirts though.

    1. louis dell'olio

I assujme you mean the printed bo ho skirts….they are still one of my favorites. The shirts as you can see coordinate well even though they are two different fabrics.

I LOVE this fabric, and these shirts, and own in several of the colors. I couldn’t recommend more highly for hot days, tropical weather etc. This is indeed a silky fine cotton and feels wonderful on. I wash mine quite successfully … gentle cycle, light spin, smooth collar, edges etc. and hang to dry … perfect for most days. One could iron crisp for a fancy “in the city” day, but most summer days, not required 🙂 A joy of a shirt to wear on a HOT summer day!
