“THE SLATE SAFARI SHIRT & TANK”

bootcut6   …………………I am always up for a challenge!……………With the popularity of the CRINKLE GEORGETTE SAFARI SHIRT, A214117…..I challenged myself to come up with a version that many would wear year round……….The main focus was the fabric.  I had to find the perfect fabric…..a georgette that wasn’t see through, but was still light weight, and airy enough to wear during the warmer months……CHECK……..Then the shirt itself. The only change to the original design was the sleeve. Instead of the 3/4 roll-up sleeve with the tab…..I decided on a classic long sleeve with a buttoned shirt cuff. Every thing else is EXACTLY THE SAME. The same REAL SHELL BUTTONS WERE USED….The same POCKETS and FLAPS…..the same SIDE SLITS..The same FAUX DE CHINE TANK that comes with the Safari Shirt….down to the lingerie straps on the inside of the tank straps! Again, this can be worn completely open as a SHIRT JACKET, or buttoned up…..worn out or tucked in….whatever your preference. July is the season to start thinking about TRANSITIONING from one season into another. Does that mean summer is over….not for me, and not for you, but as we come to the end of July, when this will be offered, Aug. comes  and goes by very quickly. Sept is the time we think about clothes that have no season……clothes that are adaptable………………The color is………………SLATE…..and the style number is, A267863. There are many different ways to wear this Safari shirt, and you can achieve many looks  merely by changing the color you choose for your bottoms. White or a pale Khaki, Tan or Chino…silver gray for now, and later on….BLACK, NAVY or DARK GRAY, such as A255122, the CHARCOAL COTTON KNIT/SPAN CAPRI LEGGING….or the A260034 LINEA BODY LEGGING in the Dark Gray, which is coming back this fall. I know you have lots of things hanging in your closets that will look wonderful with this SLATE shirt…………..Around her neck, J270119, the multi cross necklace in the NEW GUNMETAL color! coming the end of July!!……On her ear…..my favorite BOLD HOOP, J288005, in the Gunmetal…………Transition clothes are meant to be worn during late summer and into the fall and beyond…… so you can wear them as soon as you receive them…………………………..enjoy………………………….much Love…………………………….Louis

I guess my original question was to convoluted so I’ll try this way. What is the surface texture of this fabric? Is it pebbly or a slight crepe or What? Thank, I got carried away in my previous query; I am so excited about this shirt.

It’s a smooth fabric and lighter weight than the “tie” blouse you mentioned.

I am so HAPPY! I love this shirt. Now for a fabric question: Is this fabric similar to fabric used for A228338 blouse with removable ties? That seems to me to be a heavier crepe. This is one of my favorite blouses but is too heavy to wear in the summer and this fabric looks too heavy to wear with the different crinkle georgette skirts you have done to date. I have requested an ivory safari shirt for a while because I have your boho with the multi row elastic waist panel A199257 in ivory and A199787 straight skirt with overlay in ivory and would love a shirt in ivory crinkle georgette that would look good with these skirts. I’m hoping this fabric will work with these crinkle crepe skirts. What do you think?

I am definitely getting the Marine Blue and Slate shirts. Good colors!!

OOPS! meant crinkle georgette skirts not crinkle crepe skirts.

My favorite shirt style. And thanks for doing the multi-cross in gunmetal. I will want that to wear with my silver one.

I LOVE the original safari shirt and this new version…perfect in every way possible! I’m joining Goldie in feeling “giddy” over this one:)

Beautiful and just perfect for us California girls. Blue and Slate for me!

I’d like to get one of these safari shirts with tanks, but I’m unsure which color would be best for me (I have auburn hair and pale skin with yellow undertones — I had my colors done many years ago, and was told I am an “autumn”). I can wear some grays, but mostly clear colors. I’m unsure of the new blue, if it would be too dusty a color for me. Any suggestions?

Dear Lyn….I’ve never pail much attention to those color charts. I suggest you see it first in the show and then decide.

I love these new shirts! I have 6 of the crinkle georgette ones and they are my go-to pieces. Love that the tanks have lingerie straps – wish all tanks did!

How does slate compare to smoke? Smoke is a good grey for me (I’m fair with warm undertones) so am trying to decide if slate would be good for me or too cool.

    1. louis dell'olio

If the smoke works this will too.

Great – thanks! Looking forward to the gunmetal cross necklace too. You’re blowing me away with all of your new jewelry offerings – I just ordered the nugget necklace in each color.

Louis, I have always loved the safari shirt with coordinating tank, and unexpressed and inchoate was the reality that I really yearned for the set in a heavier fabric so that I could wear it during other seasons. Choosing a first color will be challenging. I am giddy over this! What a brilliant reinterpretation this is.
