“THE ALABASTER/BLACK COLOR BLOCK CARDIGAN & JEWEL NECK SWEATERS”

nuggets2

…………………..The words that come to mind when I see this combination of ALABASTER and BLACK are ELEGANT, SOPHISTICATED and CHIC……all words that describe a beautifully dressed woman…..all words that are the hallmark of the Linea woman. This color combination was made very popular during the Art Deco period, and remains as beautiful now as it was then…………..Above you have two pieces…………The long COLOR BLOCK CARDIGAN, A267883, which is approx 33 inches long for the xs, and the SHORT SLEEVE, JEWEL NECK  A267882, which is already posted on the Linea site. They are both made in the ENR CONSTRUCTION. The cardigan has an open front without any buttons, so the effect is clean without anything to clash with your accessories…………in this case two strands of my BLACK JET FACETED BEAD NECKLACES, J291535 and my DROP JET and MARCASITE EARRING, J317115….. an earring that I think has been over looked in both the jet and clear options. It’s definitely worth taking “another look” at. My multi row JET CUFF BRACELET, J273584, finishes the look…… The sleeves of the cardigan are long with wide borders of black . There are POCKETS!!!……IThe cardigan and shell have the look of the Roaring 20s…when knit clothing, thanks to Coco Chanel, became all the rage….Maybe these two pieces would have been something a flapper might have worn with a skirt, silk stockings and  bobbed hair……….or Gertrude Vanderbilt….lounging on a chaise with a long cigarette holder in alabaster and ebony to match her outfit. For today’s woman a slim pant in either black or the Light Khaki above, A265615, which is not an exact match but close enough, gives it a modern stream line look. Of course BLACK WK bottoms are always a tried and true alternative…whether it be my WK skirt, A237412 or A253411….. or the pant above in photos…..I know you are all excited about the ALABASTER JEWEL NECK…..but….do not overlook the top in…BLACK… it is THE BEST LITTLE BASIC IN TOWN!!!……This is an outfit that has no season, perfect for travel. It’s an outfit that would turn heads in any elegant restaurant in Paris or New York………..These two pieces will be shown on August 7th at 1:00am………………………………………………….

…………………………………….enjoy………………..much Love…………………………….Louis

I received the Alabaster/Black cardigan and the Alabaster S/S sweater, and I am so happy with them. They fit me perfectly, and will look nice with my long, black beaded Linea necklace. I plan to wear the set with black WK pants later this fall/winter.

I’m still thinking about the Grey/Blue set, but I already have so many of your sweaters, and I imagine more will be coming.

    Hi Louis,

I am on waitlist for your sheer hosiery. I know you said they were not reordered, but since they accepted waitlist orders, I expect your manufacturer will honor and fill those waitlist orders. Dare I hope? ( I actually ordered larger sizes, the only ones available, and they still fit beautifully!) That’s how crazy I am for them.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear bcm…….First, I have no idea why they are taking wait list orders on a style that isn’t being reordered….My manufacturer would certainly remake them IF he received an order from my buyers. He, as well as I, are not privy to the information about how many woman are on wait list. In all honesty he would have to receive an order that would make sense to reset the knitting machines to properly produce the hose. I know for a fact the sheers did extremely well the the returns were low enough to warrant a reorder. Perhaps “they” are waiting for the wait list to accumulate to a number where they can go back to the manufacturer with a decent order…..but that’s just a guess. Unfortunately, this way of doing business does not open the door for new customers to try the much acclaimed product.

Is the current the same shade as the Raspberry? I purchased the Raspberry cardigan and tank already.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

They are very different colors. The currant is much lighter and brighter, but it does work as an accent to the raspberry.

Hi, Louis, I was thinking I’d have to pass on the Color Block Cardigan as I am only a little over 5’3″; however, when I saw it on Amy, I changed my mind. I figured it she can wear it then I can wear it. I got the Alabaster/Black and the Alabaster Top. If it works on me, I’ll go back for the Current/Burgundy. I picked up the Current Top already.

I was thrilled to order the new Pure Pink WK V-Neck and the Heather Grey, as well. I must say that the WK V-Neck is my favorite sweater followed closely by the WK T-Neck.

Great presentations, always good to see you, Louis.

Is there anyway to get these presented again during a more “primetime” show? I don’t think last night’s show gave them their due!

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

I totally agree with you, but when they are presented is not my call….they will probably show up next on an over night, not on a prime time show!

      1. Kate

Well, I’m going to mention it on the QVC forum. I know it’s read (closely, it would seem) by honchos!

      2. Lyn08

I’m also hoping the color block cardigan and jewel neck sweater can be presented during your next shows (prime time). If they can show clearance items, they can certainly show these items. Not many people were up for the early, early morning show (I did DVR the show, and ordered the alabaster/black cardigan and the alabaster jewel neck sweater.)

I ordered the alabaster top before the cardigans were even available. Then right at the stroke of 11 PM (the bewitching midnight hour for those of us in the Central time zone), I ordered the cardigan in alabaster and black and also the black top. I’m a “happy camper” waiting for my packages now! Previously I ordered the asymmetrical sweater in cinnamon and teak and love those! I’m probably going to order this sweater in navy as well because it is such a good look, not to mention very comfortable. Thanks, Louis!

        1. louis dell'olio

Dear Institches49….with your moniker I would think you’d be fun at a party! I’m happy to hear you like the asymm. sweaters. Did you like the free form bead necklaces I showed with them. I made the colors especially for those sweaters.

          1. InStitches49

Yes, I loved those necklaces! And my nickname comes from my loving to sew, smock, knit, crochet, and cross-stitch. I grew up in a home with a grandmother and a mother who did these and instilled in me a love for them. I am not, however, going to recount my horrible ninth grade Home Ec. experience which could have forever killed my love of sewing. I don’t think Home Ec. is taught anymore in school, which depending on the teacher might be a good thing.

The color block cardigan is posted on QVC now. The model must not have known about the matching tank, though, because she’s wearing it with a white top.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

It’s not the models…they put on what they are given.

      1. mackenzie

        I see. Thanks.

  7. Chris/Jazzmom

    Good morning Louis,
Can the cardigan be shortened so it doesn’t look overwhelming on us Lineaputians? (5’2″)
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Chris

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Only if you don’t mind the hem on the knit, Jac has successfully shorten her WK skirts which are also in the ENR construction, and since these are in the med weight WK it should be easier. Also the bottom is the darer color so that helps. It also depends on the amount you need it shortened….anything more then 1 1/2 inches wouldn’t look good.

  8. Catherine

LOVE this alabaster color, and ordered the short sleeved sweater. This cardigan isn’t my style, though. Will there be any other pieces in alabaster? A shawl? another cardigan?

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Catherine….there are no other cardigans coming in Alabaster, but there will be other items in this color in the coming months.

  9. mackenzie

Thanks, Louis. I’ve ordered the short sleeve alabaster top and will be quick to order the cardigan when it becomes available. By the way, when you say “new medium weight” whisper knit, is it much thinner than the regular whisper knit? The reason I ask is that as we go into winter, the regular whisper knit is perfect. I hope it’s not too thin for cooler weather. Thanks.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

No it’s not too thin….it will work for all seasons.

      1. mackenzie

        Thank you for your reply.

  10. Seka

    Louis,

Just what I wanted – an open front long Cardigan with pockets – LOVE the Alabaster/Black (my Alabaster S/S Top has already shipped) – and as I also ordered the Grey – will order the Grey/Blue Cardigan (this Set for a Family Member)!

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Glad you got your alabaster top coming…I don’t think they are going to last long.

  11. InStitches49

I may have missed this somewhere, but does this alabaster have an underlying hint of pink or hint of beige/cream in it? I’m looking on my laptop but can’t (with my baby boomer eyes) tell exactly. I’m personally hoping for the latter since I’m not a “pink girl”; and, if so, that means I definitely will get another color. Thanks!

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Actually, Kate asked if it was a nude pink beige, and it is not. It is a true creamy color. When you put it next to other creamy colors it sometimes has a slight, and I mean slight pink caste, but that’s to my eye. Today, looking at it it doesn’t look pink at all?

      1. InStitches49

Perfect! Now I know which combination I will be getting for sure! And, yes, the black top is on my to-get list as well as this alabaster one! Black is always perfect whatever the season in my book, even if a splash of color accompanies it.

        1. Louis Dell'Olio

It seems the black/alabaster is on everyone’s list, so don’t hesitate to order as soon as it’s posted. The crew necks are avail now. I have a feeling the alabaster and black will become very limited.

  12. bcm

This is right up my alley!!! Thank you Louis for a stunning look. You are the best. Very CC and roaring twenties. This would also look great with your long strand of pearls. Do you agree?

  13. Grace

Oh, yes! Love this look. Have the jewelry, too. Thanks, Louis!

  14. designista

Is this WK? If so, which weight? Is the grey solid or heather? Thanks!

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear designista…..yes they are WK. I remember the s/s jewel neck is in the new med. weight, but I don’t remember about the cardi….I’ll check. If memory serves they were both done in the med. weight to make sure the colors matched exact, but I’ll double check.

  15. Kate

Wow, how skinny will we all look with that solid band of black from the high hip down!! Just so elegant and ladylike; of course I’ll probably wear mine with (faux) leather pants or skirt (would Coco approve? Dunno, but betting LDO would!)

      1. Cathy in PA

Hmmm … what about the black sequin skirt peeking out ???

        1. Louis Dell'Olio

now you’re talking….that would be super chic!

  16. Pecan Cookie

Wowee! Gimme! This is perfectly stunning. Thank you Louis!

  17. Nancy (akaTheOwl)

This is for me. On it! Ok with the mid-calf Black WK skirt, tights, boots for winter?

      1. Nancy (akaTheOwl)

        Can’t wait 🙂 Thanks!

        1. louis dell'olio

Dear Sheesh..I’m sure it will work for you. If the sleeves are long just roll them back like I did on Amy….it looks perfectly fine that way….and then all the proportions seem to work. It’s funny what the proper sleeve length can accomplish.
