“SNEAK PEEK #4”

“Sneak Peek #4” is A226256, the SAFARI SHIRT/JACKET. Why the shirt/jacket?…….because it is light enough to wear just as a shirt with nothing under it, or it can be layered with sweaters or camis and worn as a jacket. The fabric is new to Linea and one that I have not used before, though I have used similar fabrics in the past. The fabric content is 74% Rayon and 26% Nylon. The fabric has a slight crushed texture to it, again similar to fabrics I have used. One that comes to mind is the ANORAK that came in black, white and a pale olive shade, however, that fabric was much heavier. The fabric also has a slight iridescence or shine to it due to the nylon content….but not too much…..just enough to enhancer the fabric and give the colors life. This shirt features all of the safari details: epaulettes, breast pockets with button flaps and a placket front. It has full length sleeves with a traditional one button cuff with the addition of a sleeve placket extending from the cuff [a detail found on all well tailored men’s shirts, and often left off women’s tailored shirts]. The sleeve also can be rolled up and held with a tab and button. The bottom of the shirt is curved and it comes with a self belt, which is optional. There are body darts to give the shirt some shape so it is NOT BOXY. This shirt also has a WING COLLAR and a BACK YOKE. The colors are STRAW and CHILI PEPPER. In the photos above you can see just a few ways it can be worn. The Chili Pepper jacket worn over the paisley print or the coordinating chili pepper Boho. Please note that the jacket in CP is slightly lighter in shade than the boho…….I think this makes the whole outfit more interesting than a direct match. The photo in the center bottom is most accurate for color…..where the flash didn’t brighten the colors. The WHEAT jacket is worn with the paisley skirt and the stone herringbone faux linen pant. The PALE OLIVE herringbone pant works just as well with both colors.. A HEADS UP……if you already own the WHEAT TANK or the POMEGRANATE TANK, they both work beautifully with the Wheat and Chili Pepper jackets. Of course, these are perfect transition tops as they will look great in the fall and winter with turtlenecks and all kinds of sweaters. Naturally, jeans are a natural with these jackets for the casual lives we all live.

Also, please note the jewelry in the photos of the Chili Pepper jacket. You will see the new “Baroque Cross”, [no style number yet],  that will be avail in Bordeaux/Gold, Green/Gold and Black/Gold, [not positive of the color names that they have been given]. Also in the picture is the new multi cross necklace, J270119, [Gold or Silver]. There will also be a single cross drop earring to match on a lever back[no style # yet]. The new Chili Pepper beads, J270117,  are also coming in Black. I am not sure when it all will be avail. for purchasing but I will keep you informed. Other pieces coming are the stretch Slice bracelet in the Chili Pepper and Black, A270118 and the Chandelier Earring in gunmetal with multi color drops, J270116, which will work with all the prints plus many of the prints I have done in the past…..such as the floral maxi skirt.

The very first sketch I did for this July group was this SAFARI SHIRT over the PAISLEY PRINT CASCADE SKIRT, which set the attitude for the entire group…..It is pure Linea…pure  LOUIS. I hope it is pure YOU!……………………………………………………………………………..much, Love, Louis

Hi Louis! I’m loving the sneak peeks as usual, but since I’m petite (5’2″) I have a few questions pertaining to length. The chili pepper shirt/jacket is so calling my name! How does the length compare to the faux shantung stand collar jacket (A211612)? That one is pretty long on me, but belting it shortens the length enough to comfortably wear it buttoned as a shirt. Hoping that the new shirt/jacket isn’t any longer? Of course, I’m also drooling over the multi-cross necklace. How long is it, and do you think I could double it and still look ok? From the looks of it in the sneak peek, it will stretch to my knees if not doubled. I like the way one cross is centered at the bottom in the SP, but assume that if doubled that wouldn’t happen. Maybe it would be better to remove a section as I did with the original multi-station necklace. Do you think that would be better? Gee, we must drive you crazy with all of our questions, and you are so sweet to give us such personal attention!

      Dear Yvette,
The center front measurement is almost the same….the new shirt jacket is slightly shorter. However, the shirt jacket appears shorter due to the curved bottom. The sides seams are shorter than the front…..you should have no problem. Also, this shirt is slighter in weight and a much softer fabric giving the appearance of a shirt more than a jacket.
As for the crosses, I think you would have to have it shortened.

      1. Yvette

Louis, thanks for putting my mind at ease re the jacket! Now I can order it in both colors without any concerns. And I’ll just plan on shortening the cross necklaces.

  2. Nancy

Louis, you mentioned that the CP jacket is slightly “lighter in shade than the boho” but it makes for a nice teaming. I’m wondering if you like the new scarf top in CP with the CP boho? Nancy (aka TheOwl)

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Absolutely……though the combination is not for very petite women. It can be a lot of fabric combined and a little overwhelming……but not if you have the attitude tom carry it off. If you think it’s overwhelming….you will be overwhelmed……know what I mean?

      1. Nancy

Not petite and definitely have the “tude” 😉 I know what you mean. Thanks!

I’m a little lost. What jewelry will be presented during the July shows? August?

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

I’m right with you. First it’s supposed to be the beads in Chili Pepper and Black, the stretch bracelet in Chili Pepper and black, the multi cross necklace and matching earring in Gold and Silver and the Chandelier earring. I’m not exactly sure when the knot necklaces and Baroque cross are to be shipped but I know they follow this group…..that’s the best I can do…..I will try and get more info next week.

      1. Kate

Thanks for the reply! I have plans for those black beads so hope they come in July. So happy to see the brushed cotton jacket back in stock-missed it last time around. Also, noticing they are showing more of your clothes on live humans which is (a) as it should be, and (b) a sign of good things.

Pure Linea, pure Louis . . . I purely adore these lovely pieces and jewelry too. They’re perfect! I second the sentiments previously expressed. Thank you!

    Darling Louis,

We certainly DO speak the same language. It is odd, I think, that folks who love safari jackets also tend to prefer paisleys and certain color palettes. We must be part of a particular sociological group. Your color choices are so outstanding! Chili Pepper is the just the right red for transitioning from summer into fall. Those safari jackets are an answer to my “the-air-conditioning-is-too-high” lament, which, of course, I am not screaming today. In fact, this morning I emerged from a sleep that left me feeling like I’d nodded off on the subcontinent, and then I saw your glorious fashions. I thought I was in some sort of delirium from the heat since they were the answer to some of my prayers to the fashion gods. Really! They are so satisfying. I just love, love your color choices, and I, for one, believe that tonal “matchups” are the most aristocratic looking. Yea, Louis! Beautiful, beautiful creations!

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

      Dear Maria,
Thank you for the kind words. I have often said a designer customer follows a certain designer because they have the same taste. If that weren’t so they would seek another designer out, which is the way it should be. I know not everyone likes what I do….it has always been that way and as I said that’s fine. My customers and I “speak the same language”. That doesn’t mean they will like every piece I do, because we are still individuals, but there is a strong similarity in what we like…..which brings us together.

      1. Maria

        Dear Louis,

        I simply wrote the truth.

You clearly explained the phenomenon of Linea Ladies being partial to many of the same things that you yourself like. Obviously, most of your customers respond favorably to most of what you create or we would not follow — and purchase — your line. We like what you like. Your garments and jewelry are lovely and make me (us) feel tastefully attired.

On a humorous note, I, too, love hot dogs and eat them only on all the major warm weather holidays. Maybe every now and then I weaken and stop by a 7/11 for one, but that is rare. I like mustard and relish on ’em. Not a hamburger girl. This preference for hot dogs over hamburgers confounds my two sons.

I am glad you got, and enjoyed, your annual ration. Does Jac ever eat one?

        1. Louis Dell'Olio

          NEVERNEVERNEVER……she is a health food girl 100%

          1. Maria

It is no wonder that she looks so fabulous. Ah well, I eat too much and it shows. Jac is careful, and her self-control shows. She is to be admired.

            1. Louis Dell'Olio

I think it’s in her DNA. Her mother was tall and slender and a model and since she has been a model since she was 16, it part of her routine. Plus she loves to do dance classes, Pilates and yoga….Oh if only I were so disciplined!

  6. marcia29

Love, love…LOVE the fabrication and styling. I have never worn a color like chili pepper before, and your suggestions make me so much more brave in trying it. I have your anorak and the slight sheen is so much fun. I know I will like this fabric as well. I also like the more subtle colors to balance the brightness of many summer colors for variety, and, yes spice!

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Marcia29, you have gotten my fashion message perfectly. I know you will love the Chilli Pepper because it is rich but not bright and is something new.

  7. nikki

    Hello Louis,
I am having a lot of fun planning my new purchases, already on my way are the chilipepper and taupe bohos and the pale olive kate shirt. I wanted to know if the chilipepper shirt in this sneak peek coordinates with the olive cascading skirt?
    can’t wait for the shows
    nikki

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

      Dear nikki,
Even though there isn’t any Chili Pepper in the olive print the eye sort of mixes the magenta and the orange, therefore making the CP work. The CP is the perfect accent to the Pale Olive and you definitely can wear them together.

  8. Julia

How does the fit of the new safari shirt/jacket compare to the sapphire faux shantung jacket? Or georgette safari shirt? Just curious about what size to order. This collection is so perfect for me. Love it!

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

This is more of a shirt than an outerwear piece. It is very relaxed in attitude so I would say whatever size you purchased the safari georgette shirt in ….that is the size I would recommend in this shirt/jacket.

  9. Louis Dell'Olio

No….that is from the Jacques Carcanagues Gallery here in NYC. They do have a web site ….www.carcan@jcarcan.com……..where many of the Linea Ladies have ordered from………..incredible ethnic looking jewelry.

  10. Chris/Jazzmom

I can easily see the chili pepper safari shirt being worn with the black and white denim pants. How does this chili pepper shirt look with the new taupe boho? It’s going to be great to ‘play’ with existing clothes in my closet when this shirt arrives.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

It looks great with the taupe Boho….just add the ride natural accessories to accent the taupe and it will look great.

  11. MH-MN

Thank you for offering pieces like the new shirt jackets that work four seasons in my climate (upper midwest), and that span the spectrum from travel to leisure, city to country and business to occasions. As for the jewelry, I can hardly wait to order! Is the long beaded necklace you’re showing with the jacket in wheat your design, too?
