In search of a NAME

Hi all……I need to come up with a “name” for the silk/ cashmere sweaters…..and I am just terrible at it. You were so good with the Whisper Knit …..that I thought it would be wise to come to you again…..my only request is we keep the conversation and suggestions right here on my website and not open it up on the Q forum. I’d rather it be a surprise. You may be asking why do we need a name for this yarn……and the answer is……. there will be…. fingers crossed……. an OLO group of these sweaters come Oct. This yarn is exclusive to me as the mill is only spinning it for me. You can not find this blend of yarns anywhere else on QVC or any retail store!…. The lycra makes it VERY unique….so let the games begin…..thanks for all of your help!

      Kate,

Checking in on the suggestions, and I have to admit I like your spin on this.

CASH-ah-ra. I’ve been saying this name in the car all day. I like it. Know why? Since the fibers of the knit will be somewhat “exotic” the name should be too. This is sensuous and floats off the tongue and most importantly, plays up the fact that Cashmere is in this sweater, which should definitely be played up in the name because it’s a LUXURY Fiber. A talking point is that Cashara is a combination of CASHMERE and LYCRA, Cash-a-ra and it’s also EASY to remember.

    Dell’lux,

can’t wait hope that the powers that be love the concept.

      Carol,

I posted “Dell’Luxe” yesterday. For some reason, yesterday’s comments do not show up today. I indicated that I was playing off Louis’s last name and the “luxe” that another poster had started. However, I capitalized the “l” in “Luxe” and added an “e.”

Like you, I think “Dell’Luxe Knits” has a certain appeal. Let’s see if one variation of it or the other will fly. The fact that two of us settled on it indicates something, but I don’t know what.

      1. Carol Alexander

Goldie, didn’t see your contribution, but we must be on to something.
I also wanted all to be aware that it is a Dell’Olio creation. Especially when we don’t see very many of these fabrications on the Q.

Parisa, there’s a whole page of earlier comments we can no longer see; the webmaster seems to start over with a clean slate after a bit. I believe Louis can still see the earlier comments though. Many of us are posting similar or identical names; that’s a good thing; it means multiple people like them; the more the merrier. I posted Exquisite or Exquisites and also Bliss Knit or Bliss Knits several days ago, I also like the suggestions with Luxe in the name, but other vendors are using: Luxe Rachael Zoe and also VT Luxe … Louis will of course have to do all the due diligence on copyrights etc. So many good ideas here; so much fun!

      1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Kathy……don’t worry….I have written every single name down and when there are duplicates, I put a check by it for each time it has come up. There is still time so when you all are “EXHAUSTED” I will submit them to the committee. I can tell you some will drop out Immediately as they have already been taken…..like “Heaven Sent”, which is too close to “Heaven SCENT”….the perfume…………….but I do appreciate everyone getting on board…..it’s fun!

    Hi, Louis:
Since you and I are of Italian descent and my husband and I will be traveling to Italy in the fall, I have all things Italian on my mind. How about considering the following? There are many possibilities but I fear they may be too hard to pronounce! But, anything in Italian sounds so pretty 🙂

    Pianissimo – very soft
    Seta Bella – beautiful silk
    Seta Luce – silk light

    I.e. Seta Luce by Linea

    Blessings, Fran

omG this is SO funny! I read this earlier Louis and have been thinking and decided upon LuxKnit … and lo and behold I see I am not the only one!!! LuxKnit or LuxeKnit or any derivation of that would be very descriptive and ‘grabbing’ if you ask me!!! oh and I wanna buy it in Charcoal Grey!!! 🙂

  13. Qulia

Cashmere and silk make me think of exotic locations and textiles from places like India and Tibet, so I was thinking something like Himilayan Knit (also makes me think of those soft, fluffy Himilayan cats). Aren’t Kashmir oriental rugs made with silk and cashmere? You could combine words into KashSilk Knit. Silkmere Knit? I liked an earlier suggestion of Kismit but how about twisting that into Kishmir or KisKnit? Oh, this is hard. Hope you get some good suggestions!

Oh, no … the web page reset, and we can’t see the previous suggestions …

I love Eleganta, I’d like to see an Italian name to this grand blended yarn. It is very special.

    1. Sharon Santourian Holman

Wait…the correct Italian word is Eleganza I believe, yes? I vote for that.

      1. Goldie1976

        Sharon,

“Eleganta” is a word I made up. I did not mean for it to be an Italian word, only evocative of an Italian word.

It is in the same class as “Purelle.” 🙂

    Silk-mere by LDO?

  24. Kate

Maybe something that continues on your Italian heritage? You had Roma Ponte, maybe Milano, Capri (or Carpi which is the big district for knitwear, but its not a pretty word!)? Or a combination of Italian words for cashmere and silk (cashmere and seta)–Casseta Knit?

    I like Kismet…

I like Pamela in Anchorage’s suggestion! It was KISMET that brought all of us here together as well as this combination of fibers. It was all meant to be :-). Am also thrilled that this yarn will be available in other designs.

      Cathy,

You have “Bliss Knit,” too. It is a smooth and subtle brand name. Yours has an extra “s,” but Parisa has something similar to your suggestion.

I must compliment you as well.
