“THE STRIPE CARDIGAN……….another LOOK”

……………………Stripe sweaters have been done for decades………There is something clean and pure that keeps us coming back to this simple design. Over the years designers have played with all the possible variations and colors that their imaginations could conjure up. I too have done my share of stripes over the years, but I never get tired of the most simple, basic, classic stripe…………………..Some may have thought we introduced these cardigans a little late for this past spring….but….consider this…..they are very early for this FALL and NEXT SPRING. I certainly will not be repeating them…..on to new things, so it’s now or never………A263356, comes in….the SUNSHINE YELLOW & NAVY…..the NAVY & GREEN……..the unusual and sophisticated TEAK & BLACK…..and the classic IVORY & NAVY. If you are like me and wear solids all the time…….it’s fun to wear a stripe something, and this cardigan may be just the thing…………………….it’s the right time to give it another LOOK………………………………..

How does the cut of it compare with the classic Whisper Knit V-neck cardigan that was just reduced and is being retired?

Dear Julia, after laying one on top of the other the stripe cardigan is definitely wider, and I would say an easier fit. Part of this is due to the fact the WK is a much stretchier yarn, the other part is the look. The stripe is a more preppy look so it’s easier…….not big just easier.

OK Louis, bringing your expert eye to this striped cardi – for the plus size woman – how would you wear this sweater to diminish or negate the dreaded BIG look that stripes can sometimes produce? I’ve been thinking of the ivory/navy over a column of dark navy – as in the Linea Leisure Navy skirt (LOVE!) and the Linea Leisure Navy tank… Left either open or one button done…..and have been looking at the Teak/black done up similarly with the black column of color, again in the two Linea Leisure pieces. Not owning the cardigan yet … I’m unsure. Am I on the right track? What would you suggest?

Dear Nancy that is exactly what I suggest. You don’t necessarily need to wear a column of color though that always works….you could wear a white shirt with black pants and the teak sweater for instance. The trick is not to button the sweater all the way down so the stripes aren’t going horizontally in one unbroken line across your body. You will have to see what works best 1,2,3 or 4 buttons and then leave the bottom buttons undone. Actually, this is the way I like cardigans worn anyway. I always suggest at least leaving the bottom two buttons open. If it were a jewel neck …the top 1,2,3 or 4…..it’s sort of what a two way zipper can do.

Thank you SO much Louis! This particular cardigan is so iconic, and there are SO many left in my plus size, I really began to doubt my own eye and taste. I’m going to try it.

Let me know how it works out.

            Will do.

Are there any stripes in these color combinations coming for the fall in non cardigan type sweaters?

    Regards,
    Chris

Love this sweater. I have it in the teak and black. The weight is wonderful.

I have this cardigan in the navy and green. Love those two colors together. That is such a gorgeous green. I also would like to have this color combination in a pullover sweater. Thanks.
