“SNEAK PEEK #8”

Sneak Peek # 8 consists of two items: A221800, the pebble crepe top and A221804, the pebble crepe long skirt. These are a must have for my PEBBLE CREPE fans. You know the fabric well….it is 70% Rayon and 30% poly and it has natural stretch. These are perfect travel pieces and easy care garments. The colors  are black, sand and pale terracotta [a soft coral].

A221800…..The body of the top is very similar to last seasons ballet neck pebble crepe top. It has the same sewn on patch pockets with a bison opening in the patch, side slits and a bracelet length sleeve…..good for showing off lots of bangles….. The top is aprox. 27 inches long for an XS. The neckline of this top is the focal point. It has a draw string funnel neck which can be worn many different ways. Leave it totally un-drawn and it becomes a lovely soft cowl neck…..just tie the streamers and let them hang [no knot….just flip them through as you would when tying a knot, but leave off the last step……or tie them in a bow. Draw the funnel in and you have a softly gathered collar. I think this way of wearing the collar can come in very handy on cold blustery days…..wear a turtle neck under it and the top gives you an added light layer and extra protection. Come spring and summer…..you have a wonderfully breezy and cool top. I would say this top is more casual than dressy, but is certainly suitable for lunch with the girls, and less dressy functions…..showers, birthdays graduations….you get the idea. Put it on with jeans and this replaces you hoodies and sweat shirts. It really can be worn for almost any occasion depending on how you accessorize it. Remember, it is the same pebble crepe fabric as your crop  and long pull on pants from last season. This can easily  become a go to piece.

A221804 is a long pull on, elastic waist skirt…..an essential. The colors are black, sand and pale terracotta. It is basically a long straight skirt with a high enough slit for easy walking……no pockets…. Pair it with the top, as in the photo of the black top and skirt or wear it with many things you may already own…….and more things to come……i.e. the paisley top and the lace trim sweaters…..plus more coming on future shows. It truly is a must have spring /summer /early fall  transition skirt. It is unlined, as the pants were, and is a marvelously cool skirt to wear this coming summer……a great pair of sandals and off you go. I know you ill get a lot of use from a skirt like this…..another hard to find item……………………………much Love, Louis

Hi Louis, I have a question. Will the “Mosaic Print Tiered Skirt” be coming back in the navy/blue? I seem to have missed it last year, and it’s not availabe in many sizes at the moment.

    thanks so much

      Just ignore this post.

Sorry I didn’t mean to post this under the sneak peak…I’ve posted the question under “ask Louis” where it belongs…Computer had a brain fart.

That terracotta is calling my name! How lovely .. and very spring like and fresh looking.
Lovely pebble crepe pieces.. Thank you, Louis!

Will the chlorine from a pool hurt the fabric if I putting on after swimming and drying off? I would also worry about sunblock damaging the fabric, but I LOVE the idea of a cover up that covers one’s neck and decollete. So many of them don’t. Thank you. The terracotta is a beautiful color.

Dear upallnight1…..I truly have no idea about what the effects of chlorine and sun tan lotion would have on the fabrics. They are never tested for those types of things. I would think chlorine would be harmful to any fabric other than swimsuit fabrics……and even those they say to wash after using or show after swimming. If you plan to swim in a pool with chlorine I would certainly wait until the bathing suit were dry before putting on a garment. As far as any lotion….I would towel it off before putting on a garment. I would think the cream lotions or the ones that absorb into the skin without leaving that greasy feel would be safer………regards, Louis

    Mr D–you are a 2012 resolution buster–that’s all I’ve got to say!

(Other than the terracotta looks spectacular!)

(And what an interesting new way to hide neck wrinkles! Ha!–Love it!)

It’s my job to bust all resolutions and destroy all rules…..LOL

I’m a pebble crepe fan, yippee!!

Is the georgette paisley print top in blush, peach enough to go with the pale terracotta? Maybe too pink?

    Dear Louis,

Love your crepe – the new terracotta is beautiful! Can you tell us how long the skirt is? I can’t believe that those necklaces are not authentic Berber pieces – they look like the real thing.

I’ll be smiling at you & Jac on Friday,
    Dariann

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

      Hi Dariann,
I believe the skirt is aprox. 31 1/2 to 32 inches, with an 11 in slit. I know you will love these pieces!…….regards, Louis

Louis, I’m your biggest pebble crepe fan and cannot tell you how happy I am to see this sneak peek! We’re going to Kauai in April and it’s an all pebble crepe trip for me. I’m now thinking I can use the new top for a swimsuit cover up. And there is nothing easier than a slim skirt for lunch or dinner.

Can you comment on the tan/natural/sand colors from the last two seasons? Do any of them coordinate with each other?

    Thanks!

      Hi Carol,
These pieces will be perfect for Kauai!!!Great as a swimsuit coverup, sight seeing or a nice casual dinner out. I have done many colors called “sand”, but none are quite the same….not intentional. I would say the new sand top looks best with the pebble crepe sand pull on pant from last spring/summer,[not sure if it is even called sand]. The pant is the same family but slightly darker….they look good together. I would also say the sage, black and coffee bean pebble crepe crop pants from last season all look great with the tops. Since your trip is planned for April….I want you to know, in March I will have a terrific, floaty georgette top in a wonderful woodblock print that definitely was inspired by the islands of Hawaii, and Bali. It will come in three colors, black/sand, terracotta/sand and green/sand, and all of them look great with the sand skirt, the pull on pebble crepe pants in sand and the crop pull on pant in natural…..It’s perfect for Kauai too!…………….regards, Louis

Can’t wait! I took nothing but pebble crepe, the olive paisley boho and the azure cold shoulder blouse in georgette to Cabo this winter and I love how those fabrics work together.

Have you seen The Descendants? It’s a great showcases of Kauai.

Skinny jeans would be perfect! Not too much happening in the bracelet department. The next time you are in NYC you must go to Jacques Caranagues at 21 Green Street in Soho. All of, or most of your bracelet needs will be met. Ask for Yvonne and tell her I sent you and that you want to see the down stairs goodies after you looks at the goodies in the store. The two coral necklaces in the photo are from him. You would think they are authentic Berber necklaces, but they are incredible repros. I get tons of things from them…..You will love this store….mostly home furnishings from Bali, India Nepal etc. etc…………….LDO

I shall clean out the place! Will be in NYC early next month and plan on making a beeline. Thanks for the tip. Oh, by the way, this will come as no surprise to you, but was in NM this week and saw an illusion lace sweater very similar to yours from Proenza Schouler….

      1. Louis Dell'Olio

Actually it is a surprise…..haven’t seen it…….You will love the store!

    2. Yvonne Chin

BTW got a new shipment ….some new bracelets and necklaces for you to add with your fabulous collection….Love, love all of it !

Lots of kisses and Hugs …

Loving the terracotta color for spring (better than the Pantone screaming orange!) and this looks like it would be great over skinny jeans? Now, if only we had some great bracelets to go with those ‘bracelet-length’ sleeves!
