MARCH “SNEAK PEEK #9”

Sneak Peek #9 is style A222259, an embellished dress. This dress will actually be on air April 2nd. I will be on PM Style with Lisa Robertson.

I have done a series of dresses for this season, long, short, casual and dressier. This is the only embellished dress I have done. It is approx 41 inches from high point shoulder and is a cotton/rayon knit. It has a short sleeve and a very gentle shaping to follow the line of the body without being tight or clingy……..the knit actually falls away from the body….no static cling here. The colors are BLACK,  NAVY and SAND. Each color has it’s own color embellishments so no two are exactly alike. Also, many of the ornaments have a MATTE FINISH so shine is kept at a minimum. I felt doing the embroidery this way allows you to wear this dress for more than dressier occasions. Some of the beads are faceted some are smooth. There are different shapes and sizes of sequins…..there are tear drop shapes and different sizes in the round shape. Again, most are matte finish. There are groups of small round sequins, strung in a row, separated with seed beads….so the embroidery is quite intricate…..it is not just some sequins scattered here and there. The embroidery, of course, continues around to the back. The dress has a modified scoop neckline with three horizontal knit embroidered bands to give more detail and a peek-a-boo effect. It’s sexy without showing anything. The back has an exposed zipper to give the dress a MODERN EDGE…………For SOME……you could even wear this dress with the zipper in the front…..wear the zipper…..unzipped…as far as you dare. Wearing the dress this way will work for some, but not for all. The sand color has predominately PALE GOLD embellishments with PALE PEWTER and some deeper BRONZE for texture. The navy has predominately SILVER and GUNMETAL and the black dress has ANTIQUE BRASS and BRONZE. I think this dress will work in anyone’s wardrobe……..you all have graduations, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, showers, engagements, anniversaries and weddings etc. etc.coming up that this dress would be appropriate for. It’s a great dress to take away on a cruise, vacation or business trip……it’s hand wash due to the hand embroidery. IMHO, it’s a terrific embroidered dress because it’s not overdone but it isn’t skimpy either……………..I hope you agree………………………..much Love, Louis

I was so lucky!!! I live in Seattle area, so, the first show for me was at 3 am. I’ve recorded it. When I got up to go to work at 5:30 am the next morning, I’ve turned on the recording, and was able to get white jeans in small on wait list (cross my fingers). The next show for me was at 8 am, and I watched it on my laptop at work. I was able to be one of the first to get the pull-on pants in sand!!! I’m ALWAYS looking for a good pair of pull-on pants because they hide the stomack (I collect the pull-on pants). So, I feel lucky! Thank you, Louis! The question is… are there any other full-length pants in the next shows???

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

No…..just the crop pants in April…..I will have them in July, August and Sept.

  2. Barbara

Beautiful! I usually wear an XS top and a S bottom–should I order a small in this dress? Also, can it be shortened? Thank you!

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Definitely XS……there is plenty of room in the bottom

  3. Sherry

Louis, is this the same weight cotton/rayon knit as the butterfly sweater and the embroidered lace sweater? I really like the weight of both of those pieces.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

I believe it is similar….may be a touch heavier

  4. Jules/Ciley

Sassy, Snazzy, Sexy, Smart, Sophisticated, and STRONG! Sooooo Uexpected and Happy! I literally gasped when I saw it Louis!!! Can’t wait to get it home! Oh and Exciting…did I mention EXCITING??? 🙂

Louis I love this new dress but I have a problem with middle age spread around the center section so if I normally wear 1x should I size up to keep it from grabbing me in the center?

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Dear Sharon the dress really isn’t that fitted. I think if you get a 2x the top will be two big. If you are worried about the mid section I think a spanx will do the trick.

  6. MH-MN

Delicious and clever! May I ask the length? And, how ever will I choose just one color that my budget allows?

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

It’s approx. 41 inches from high point shoulder……You have a little time to decide which color.

      1. MH-MN

        Perfect length! Thank you.

Yes, I agree! This dress is TERRIFIC!! I’ve been looking for a dress to wear to my daughter’s college graduation in May and this one looks perfect. Chic and oh so stylish. Thank you!!!

I WILL BE 70 IN APRIL AND WITH THE SNEAKS AT THE NEW DESIGNS COMING UP, I WILL NEED TO EXPAND MY BUDGET TO INCLUDE EVERYTHING. NOT ONE IS A NO BRAINER. ALL MAKE YOU FEEL TEN FEET TALL AND BEING A ONE X, TEN INCHES THINNER. I LOVE EVERYTHING. YOUR TALENT IS SUCH A GOD SENT AND AS YOU SEE, YOUR APPEAL WILL GO FROM MY DAUGHTER WHO IS A SIZE 4 TO ME.
GOD BLESS YOU FOR TAKING THE TIME TO CARE FOR ALL SIZES AND FOR DOING DRESSES. THANK YOU LOUIS FOR THE TALENT AND DRESSSING THE WOMAN THE WAY SHE SHOULD BE DRESSED. CLASSIC&CHIC. ENJOY THE DAY! LOUISE

Dear Louise I think this dress will look great on all my small, med, large and plus ladies. It brings all the attention to the face and it’s an easy shape to wear. I agree anyone from 25 to infinity can wear this dress…..and 70 isn’t old!!!

  9. Nancy ( aka smilesalot)

STUNNING~! I have to make sure there are a few glamorous events in my future since this will be in my closet in one color or another!
It looks easy to wear but very different. A LDO home run~!

WOW!!! What a great dress. Just one question, is the navy…your dark navy? Looks like the flash is playing with the depth of the color. Now to decide…what color…what color…I’m so into the blacks and sands this year.

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

The navy isn’t my black navy. I would say the photo is pretty accurate. I compared it to the navy blazer and the flippy crepe skirt and the dress is slightly darker than those pieces. It’s a good navy for a spring dress….but you really can wear it 11 months out of the year especially in air conditioned places.

      1. Sherry

        Thanks so much…

  11. Kate

(((thud)))). Are you kidding me? This is so chic and such a departure from my trove of Linea that I must have it in all three colors. That black is a no-brainer, but wow, the navy is so fresh. I’ve been needing some new summer desk to dinner dresses and this is perfect!!! (Oh, I do love the idea of reversing it)

  12. Carol

Love the navy! It’s perfect for my son’t HS graduation events coming up this June. It won’t be too hot for our June evenings.
Thanks for thinking of this for me! I have great navy patent shoes to go with it!

    1. Louis Dell'Olio

Carol. if you find the navy patent doesn’t work….a gunmetal metallic would also be perfect. Jac has metallic flats, tea cup slides and strappy sandals in almost every color and she always can match them up with almost anything.

      1. Carol

Louis, I have some great metallic wedges that I’m sure will work. My Linea collection is only superseded in size by my shoe collection! LOL As much as I’d love to have Linea shoes, it would be too dangerous for my wallet.

I have the zebra jacquard jacket in navy. Do you think that will work with this dress? I just need to have something to thorw on if it turns chilly at night.

        thanks!
