“THE BLACKBERRY FAUX SHETLAND V-NECK TUNIC”

……………………….The FAUX SHETLAND V-NECK SWEATER, A259108, is returning in FOUR NEW COLORS…..True Shetland is a 100% wool yarn that was created on the Shetland Island, which is part of Scotland….They are known for their SHEEP from which the Shetland wool is made. The most recognized feature of the wool is its’ fuzziness and the heather effect it sometimes has….It is a beautiful yarn. Growing up I had many Shetland pullovers. Many of my fellow female classmates also had their Shetland pullovers in an array of wonderful colors…..My Faux Shetland yarn is a blend of 83% acrylic and 17% nylon. Acrylic yarns are known to be very soft, and this is a soft sweater, but if you are super sensitive the texture and fuzziness may feel itchy. I have to say the great majority of women do not find this acrylic/nylon itchy at all, or it would never have been reordered!……..As a reminder….this is the exact same yarn as the Poncho, the V-Neck Cardigan and the brand new two way zip Cardigan/Coat that many of you are now receiving, and it’s getting great reviews. The cardigan/coat is four ply, while the V-neck is a single ply…which makes it FEATHER WEIGHT……..The first of the four colors is………..BLACKBERRY…….The surface of the sweater almost has a FROSTED look due to the heather aspect of the yarn…………Out of all the photos above the DARKER photos show the color more accurately………..I have it shown with the BLACKBERRY WK TN, A72448, and the SOLID GREY PONTE SLIM PANT, A265615. I think this particular grey works well with the heather of the sweater………………Accessories……….anything in GUNMETAL or SILVER will work best. I think the new Black Knee High, A283073, with the GREY PIN STRIPES will finish the look off nicely…………………………….enjoy…………..much Love………………….Louis

When may I purchase this sweater

Dear Donna….I honestly don’t know for sure. I’m hoping it will be avail by my Nov. 17th.

I also have very fond memories of my Shetland sweaters of years gone by. The very first sweater that I bought with my own money (babysitting) was a red Shetland pullover. I kept that sweater for forever, way past its expiration date. But I do have a portrait in pastels a street artist in Ocean City NJ did of me wearing that sweater 🙂 I have the poncho from earlier in two colors and a V-neck cardi. Like Goldie, they take me back to earlier memories.

    Louis,

How odd that you should mention that you wore many Shetland pullovers when you were growing up. My ride to my church is a somewhat longish one (certainly much longer than the wonderfully convenient trip to a local Catholic church that I sometimes visit). While driving along, it hit me that one of the reasons I love the new long cardigan/coat and the faux Shetland V-neck cardigans is that they remind of something from my past. They conjure a sense of the clothing I wore in high school and college. Really weird that you should write this about what is fast becoming one of my a favorite yarns — your faux Shetland. It amazes with its gentle touch on the skin. I could not wear the real thing these days because I’ve been so spoiled by Whisper Knit and now the faux Shetland yarn. The test? I recently found a very expensive charcoal grey V-neck pure cashmere sweater that I had stuffed somewhere. It had several moth-eaten holes in it, but my sadness was brief. Placing the sweater against my skin, I almost yowled in discomfort. I can no longer wear even good cashmere, it seems. Maybe it is because I did not wear many cashmere sweaters last winter (I prefer my Whisper Knits) or I am just too darned sensitive now.

I do the lip test….I put sweaters to my lips, and if they are scratchy you know immediately. It would not work if you wear lip stick!

Thank you for this fascinating tip, Louis. I will use the lip test from now on.
